Inter ckan compatibility

We have setup our city-level ckan sites at http://opendata.banjarnegarakab.go.id/. Running ckan version 2.7.0 installed from source on Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit. This site will be "integrated" or harvested by our province-level ckan site at http://data.jatengprov.go.id/.It seems run same version, and run on ubuntu too (according to http://toolbar.netcraft.com), but I do not know the ubuntu version. 

One thing that confuse us is "province-level ckan admin / maintener said that our ubuntu version is not compatible". This may be based on recommendation letter.

We only have one question: It is true?
