Chinese problem

Hi CK.

I tried to install CK-ERP to egroupware. But after copy all the files,
all the characters are become "?" (in chinese). What should I do?

Hi, Romel,

My best suggestion is,

a) check that your egw (default English) installation is correctly
installed, eg, access your egw calendar (with English display).
b) check that your ck-erp (default English GUI) is correctly installed,
ie, ck-admin module -> admin/setup -> Install Test Environment
c) check that your egw (Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese)
languages had been correctly installed thru egw setup Step 4 - Language
Management.
d) check that your egw (Chinese language) display are correct, eg access
your egw calendar (with Chinese display).
e) check that you have followed the steps listed in the CK-ERP v.0.12.1
release email, ie,

This release has been tested aganist eGroupWare 1.0.0.006 . For Chinese
GUI users, after normal installation, please go through, [CK-ERP
Administration module -> Admin/Setup -> 3 - convert big5/gb18030 to
utf-8] to generate utf-8 Chinese lang files. Then, go through
egroupware's setup Step 4 - Language Management to (re-)install the
newly generated utf-8 Chinese lang files. (in English)

这版本内的人力资源模块加入了新的联系资讯基层架构。新版本和 eGroupWare
1.00.006 的共处亦已进行了测试, 效果良好。中文用戶, 在正常的安装以后, 请
通过 [时机商计的系统管理模块 -> 管理/设定 -> 转换 big5/gb18030 到 utf-8
] 来产生 utf-8 中文 lang 文件。然后，通过 egroupware 的设定第四步 - 语言

通过 [时机商计的系统管理模块 -> 管理/设定 -> 转换 big5/gb18030 到 utf-8 ] 来产生 utf-8 中文 lang 文件。然后，通过 egroupware 的设定第四步 - 语言 管理 来 (重新) 安装刚才产生的 utf-8 中文 lang 文件 。 (in Simplified Chinese)

注销再login后，EGW的页面没有变化，但是所有CK-ERP页面还是英文，只是中间夹带少量中文，请问可能是什么原因？

PS - my Chinese character input skill is horrible, so I am replying in
English, but I would have no problem reading your reply, if it is in

DEAR CK ,

I am sorry that your solution way may not be the full solution because there is a setup in the php server (something like mbstring overload) must be set for UTF-8 characters. After setting of this, it become ok..

I am afraid CK-ERP does not work well within a M$ Windows environment.
Specially, the procedure, listed below,

for the generation of Chinese utf-8 lang files, makes use of an Unix
command embedded in most Linux distribution. AFAIK, M$ Windows does not
provide such utility. Under the circumstances, the best suggestion I
have is for you to setup one of the many freely available Linux
distribution and install egw + CK-ERP within such environment.

Hi, Steven,

I am not sure. When setting up my own egw environment, I do get this
warning,

Checking php.ini: mbstring.func_overload = 7:
ini_get('mbstring.func_overload')='0'
The mbstring.func_overload = 7 is needed to fully support unicode
(utf-8) or other multibyte-charsets.

*** Please make the following change in your php.ini (/etc/php.ini):
mbstring.func_overload = 7
*** AND reload your webserver, so the above changes take effect !!!

I simply ignore the warning, and the final (egw + CK-ERP) setup does
display Chinese characters perfectly, and I am using a stock FC3. But,
if setting mbstring.func_overload = 7 solves the problem for you, then
it may be something that other Chinese (egw + CK-ERP) users should look
out for.

Hi, SHI,

AFAIK, twpug.net's script is using the same underlying Unix command that
I mentioned before, therefore is sufferring from the same problem when
operating within M$ Windows. At the same time, CK-ERP is designed to
operating within a [L=Linix]AMP environment. I am quite certain that
even if you get over this hurdle, some other problems will pop up. It
is really not advisable to operate CK-ERP within M$ Windows. You will
have tons of headache.

看来我必须使用虚拟机运行LINUX，如果不这样的话，我的LOTUS NOTES就不能用
了。 :-[

you should be able to use lotus note client on linux (cf winehq.org or
codeweavers.com).

Moreover, if you want to stick with windows as your main os, you can get
a vmware / qemu os virtualizer and just run ckerp inside. OS choice is
not a big deal anymore.
