Friends of Peace who live in the Kansas City area,

It’s hard to imagine in this day and age that people would actually involve themselves with Nazi activities, but apparently there’s such a group coming to Kansas City for a rally this weekend.

You may have read about it in the newspaper (see links below).

There is a counter vigil tomorrow, Saturday, November 9, at Liberty Memorial at 3 PM. Details are in the KC Star links that follow.

We invite you to attend. We are opposed to bigotry of any kind, and certainly bigotry that celebrates something as horrific as the holocaust.

My hope is that no one from the Nazi group will come to the Liberty Memorial vigil to attempt a disturbance. It would be the worst possible result if there were confrontations between those of us who stand against bigotry, and those who are for it. In some ways I think it might be best to ignore the organization for fear of giving them publicity, but on the other hand, such bigotry was ignored in Germany years ago with tragic results.
