Greetings All  -

Citizens for Justice in the Middle East has been proud to present many speakers over the past three years – each one dedicated to telling his or her story of the Israeli-Palestinian crisis and occupation. This Fall CJME will partner with Friends of Sabeel—North America and the Justice, Peace and Environment Committee at Village Presbyterian Church to bring you a Sabeel Conference on October 20-21, 2006.

Rarely does a conference on peace and justice issues come to Kansas City with the caliber of speakers and topics as the one being planned for this Fall. This regional conference will inform community members about current realities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Sabeel (Arabic for “the way”) is a grassroots peace movement initiated by Palestinian Christians, who work side by side with Muslims, Jews and the secular community to bring awareness, dialogue and understanding to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Through educational conferences and programs, Sabeel works to build a culture of peace.

We have invited a remarkable list of experts in the history, politics, and theology of the Palestine-Israel conflict who will address a range of topics and help us towards more effective activism on the issue. The speaker biographies are available at the conference web site - www.kcsabeelconference.org. Those of you who have been involved in the peace movement will agree that it’s an impressive list!

CJME invites you to attend the Sabeel Conference and join with others to listen, learn and discuss ways to end the Israeli-Palestinian crisis. A Sabeel conference in Boston attracted 800 people, Chapel Hill 300, Toronto 200, Salt Lake City 300. To date, there have been about fifteen regional conferences—and we’re proud that Kansas City will host this one.

Please consider attending this conference. With your participation, we can make it an important event for the Kansas City area, one which will engage people in our region in the cause of a just peace in Palestine and Israel.

To register online for the conference go to http://www.kcsabeelconference.org/registration.htm. Thank you for supporting this effort.

Towards peace,

Matt Quinn
