Conference Announcements

Please note the following reminders for the local churches:

1.       Session Notice – July 23-24, 2014

Notice for the Fourth Quadrennial Session of

Central Jamaica Conference

 

Notice is hereby given that the Fourth Quadrennial Session of

Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists

will be held at

Camp Verley, Spring Gardens, St. Catherine on

Wednesday, July 23 and Thursday, July 24, 2014.

 

Registration for all delegates will be on

Wednesday, July 23, 2014,

between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

 

The first Business Session will begin at 1:00 p.m.

This Session is called to:

1.    Receive reports from Officers and Departmental Directors

2.    Elect Administrators and Departmental Directors for the next quadrennium

3.    Consider revision and changes to the Conference’s Constitution and Bylaws

4.    Transact other business

 

Delegates are selected by the local churches consistent with the terms of the

Central Jamaica Conference Constitution.

The session will be streamed live on the Conference website and observers in attendance are asked to take note of the seating arrangements.  

 

2.       Office Closure – July 23-25, 2014

Kindly note that Central Jamaica Conference Headquarters’ Office will be closed from Wednesday, July 23 to facilitate the 4th Quadrennial Session, and will be re-opened for business on Monday, July 28. We thank you for your understanding.

 

3.       Installation Service – July 26, 2014

The Installation Service of Officers and Directors elected to serve Central Jamaica Conference for the 5th quadrennium will be on July 26, 2014 at the Spanish Town Adventist Church beginning at 3:30pm. All are invited to this consecration service.

 

4.       Prayer Vigil and Day of Prayer for the Nation – July 31 and August 2, 2014

At the recent Mid-year meetings of the Jamaica Union Conference it was voted to join the Government of Jamaica in celebration of Emancipation by way of a Prayer Vigil. The format of the programme should be determined by each Conference and local Church. See the attached letter and material for more information. Also kindly note that our Annual Day of Prayer for the Nation follows right after, and we look forward to each Church facilitating this special worship experience.

 

5.       Children's Ministries Day - August 2, 2014

Kindly see the sermon attached for Children’s Ministry Day to be held August 2, 2014.

 

6.       Adventist Youth and Pathfinder Day - August 9, 2014

Kindly see the sermon attached for Adventist Youth and Pathfinder Day to be held August 9, 2014.

 

7.       Summer Camp – August 4-11, 2014

Our Annual Summer Senior Camp (age 17 and over) will be from August 4-11, 2014 at Camp Verley, Spring Gardens, St. Catherine. The camp caters to both young people of our church and community from the parishes of Manchester, Clarendon and St. Catherine. Please complete the attached application form and return it with the fee to the Conference Office on or before Monday, July 28, 2014 so that the necessary preparations can be made. Registration begins at 12 O’ clock for each camp and the cost is ($4,000.00). 

 

8.       Appreciation

Thanks for being a part of the CJC Communication Network and the Network of Online Witnesses. Indeed the sharing of the gospel, good news and promotions have led to lives being impacted positively for Christ. May God continue to bless you as we ‘Communicate Love’, ‘Build Bridges of Hope’ and share God’s grace.

o   Medical: Mondays to Thursdays 10 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.

o   Colon Cleansing and Detox: Tuesdays and Thursdays 2 - 5 p.m. by appointment only

o   Child Welfare (Immunization): Wednesdays & Thursday 8.30 - 10.30

o   Counselling: Wednesdays by appointment

o   Immunization for Adults: as is necessary are available as is necessary

·         I Will Go – George Gordon 2nd Album Launch – August 2, 2014: Come and support our very own George Gordon as he launches his 2nd album with a grand concert. Also note:

o   Two infirmaries will benefit.

·         JAMU Health Summit, August 14-17, 2014: Attached is a document providing information on the up-coming JAMU Health Summit, August 14-17, 2014. Kindly share the information with all interested persons—noting that:

o   Thursday, August 14, 2014—will be for Field& Institutions Leaders and Health Ministries Directors at the Union Office

o   Friday (Vespers) & Sabbath, August 15-16, 2014—will be for the general membership and all interested persons at the Mandeville Church

o   Sunday, August 17, 2014—for Adventist Health Professionals and others (Venue: East Jamaica Conference) –Registration Fee $2,000/person— Registration Form attached. Contact the EJC Health Ministries Dept to register.
