Conference Announcements

Please note the following reminders for the local churches:

1.       A Call to Pray – July 5, 2014

As we prepare for the 4th Quadrennial Conference Session (July 23-24, 2014) to be held at Camp Verley, Spring Gardens, St. Catherine, Sabbath, July 5, 2014, is declared as “A Call to Prayer.” The day covers sunset, Friday, July 4, to sunset Sabbath, July 5, 2014. See the attached bulletin for details.

 

2.       International Institute of Christian Ministries Training – Make up

All participants are being reminded of the make up IICM training as follows:

·         Manchester make-up classes for graduation will be held on Sabbath, July 5, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Northern Caribbean University at the Information Science Building.

·         Clarendon the Course PUE103: “Preparing and Presenting a Lay Evangelistic Series” will be offered for the Public Evangelism Group on Sunday, July 6, 2014, May SDA Church at 10:00 AM.

·         St. Catherine make up classes for Community Services will be held at the CJC Office from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 6, 2014.

Other persons who are missing one or two courses we will try to accommodate you as best as possible.

 

3.       Communication Day 2014 – July 12

Kindly see attached information to help in the planning and execution of Communication Day 2014.

 

4.       International Institute of Christian Ministries Graduation, Sabbath, July 12, 2014

The IICM Graduation Service will be held on Sabbath, July 12, 2014 at the Portmore Seventh-day Adventist Church at 3:30 PM. All graduands are required to be there by 3:00 PM. The theme is “Empowered to Serve” and the speaker will be Dr. Keith Burton, author of last quarter’s Adult Sabbath School Lesson and Professor at Oakwood University.

 

5.       Summer Camp – July 14 – August 11, 2014

Our Annual Summer Camp this year will be from July 14 - August 11, 2014 at Camp Verley, Spring Gardens, St. Catherine. The camp caters to both young people of our church and community from the parishes of Manchester, Clarendon and St. Catherine. Dates for each camp are as follows:

·         Teen Camp (age 13-16)                      July 14 - 21, 2014

·         Junior Camp (age 7–12 years)          July 14 - 21, 2014

·         Senior Camp (age 17 & Over)           August 4 - 11, 2014

Please complete the attached application form and return it with the fee to the Conference Office on or before Monday, July 7, 2014 so that the necessary preparations can be made. Registration begins at 12 O’ clock for each camp and the cost is ($4,000.00).

·         Clarendon Youth Federation Mid-Year Rally – July 12, 2014: Join the young people mid-year rally at the Pennants SDA Church on Sabbath July 12, 2014. See the flyer for details.

 

·         St. Catherine Lay Worker Federation Harvest Rally – July 13, 2014: Come and support the lay workers harvest rally on July 13 at the Willowdene Group of Schools. See the flyer for details.

 

·         NCU Department of Communication 5k Run/Walk– July 27, 2014: Support the debate team to the world finals.

 

·         H. S. Walters Health and Outreach Centre – The following services are available at the H. S. Walters Health and Outreach Centre:

o   Dental: Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays 2-5 p.m. Wednesdays 1-4 p.m.

o   Medical: Mondays to Thursdays 10 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.

o   Colon Cleansing and Detox: Tuesdays and Thursdays 2 - 5 p.m. by appointment only

o   Child Welfare (Immunization): Wednesdays & Thursday 8.30 - 10.30

o   Counselling: Wednesdays by appointment

o   Immunization for Adults: as is necessary are available as is necessary

·         JAMU Health Summit, August 14-17, 2014: Attached is a document providing information on the up-coming JAMU Health Summit, August 14-17, 2014. Kindly share the information with all interested persons—noting that:

o   Thursday, August 14, 2014—will be for Field& Institutions Leaders and Health Ministries Directors at the Union Office

o   Friday (Vespers) & Sabbath, August 15-16, 2014—will be for the general membership and all interested persons at the Mandeville Church

o   Sunday, August 17, 2014—for Adventist Health Professionals and others (Venue: East Jamaica Conference) –Registration Fee $2,000/person— Registration Form attached. Contact the EJC Health Ministries Dept to register.

·         Diamond Acres Harvest – July 6, 2014 – CANCELLED: We sincerely regret to inform you that the Diamond Acres S.D.A Harvest Rally and Sale Scheduled for the 6th of July has been postponed until further notice. We apologize for and inconvenienced.

 

·         Portmore SDA Church Blood Drive – July 20, 2014 - The Blood Bank's Team will be at the Portmore SDA Church on Sunday, July 20, 2014 @9am-3pm. Come and be a Blood Donor and remember to get a good night's rest and have a meal before you give blood. One Love, One Blood, Partnerships for Life.
