Call for Proposals: United Nations Democracy Fund

UNDEF projects are two years long and fall under one or more of six main areas;
- Community development
- Rule of law and human rights
- Tools for democratization
- Women
- Youth
- Media
UNDEF grants range from US$50,000 to US$400,000. Project proposals are subject to a highly rigorous and competitive selection process, as UNDEF receives an average of about 2,000 proposals a year and only some 50-60 are selected.

Independent Projects awards provide funding to artists and arts managers who propose to undertake projects in the United States in collaboration with a US non-profit arts organization or individual artist. Applicants must have a letter of invitation from a US partner in order to apply for an Independent Projects award. If you do not have a letter of invitation, please consider applying to the Residencies program. Awardees are responsible for arranging all the details of the project including all travel and housing arrangements. Proposals must be thoroughly researched and clearly describe the project. They must include a detailed budget that indicates exact resources and expenses.

“War & Peace in the 21st Century” Seminar, Croatia

This post/graduate course will be organized as a rigorous eight-day academic interdisciplinary program structured around lectures, workshops and conference-oriented presentations of scholarly research. UNEP, ELI, and Partners Launch Global Knowledge Platform for Environmental Peacebuilding

The Role of EU Delegations in EU Human Rights Policy, DG for External Policies

Empowered EU Delegations in third countries and international organisations can be at the centre of recent efforts to strengthen the EU’s external human rights policy. They play an important role in implementing a set of policy objectives; their analysis and reporting can influence policy-making and shaping; their ability to connect with local actors and gather in-the-field information and knowledge can make them a crucial ‘antenna’ for the EU’s global network; their coordinating role of the member states’ embassies can give them weight and authoritativeness within the EU and in diplomatic relations with third countries. In a nutshell, EU Delegations play a crucial role in ensuring that the recent institutional and policy developments on global human rights are effectively implemented.

EU Enlargement to the Balkans: Shaken, not Stirred

The process of EU enlargement to the Balkans, in its current form, could be heading towards a bottleneck, argues Corina Stratulat in a recent policy brief. The fact that the Balkan countries seem to be moving in two gears, that member states appear to be taking the region for granted, and that the Commission’s language struggles to inspire people on the ground are three main risks that could get the dossier into a jam. The author calls on the EU to shake off its ‘enlargement blues’ and be more pro-active in order to overcome these challenges and go back to making foreign policy history.
