CAST YOUR CARES ON JESUS - Be Anxious For Nothing
Jesus is our Lord and our Saviour. We have given ourselves to Him, so we
now belong to Him. He has been given all power in Heaven and Earth, so we
should let Him take care of these things for us. We are overstepping our
boundaries when we feel we have to figure everything out for ourselves.

NOTE: This kind of restatement of Biblical ideas is authorized by Jesus in
Matthew 13:52, where He says,"Therefore every scribe which is instructed
unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder,
which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old." I am a
scribe (writer) who is "instructed unto the kingdom of heaven," and I am
bringing forth new things like this, out of the treasure He has given to
me.
Eliminate All Guilt Through Jesus Christ

Many people, perhaps even you, are going through their lives weighted
down by a load of guilt.

Even if you are not religious at all, you still have an inborn
knowledge of right and wrong which your Creator wrote into your heart
when He made you in your mother's womb. Deep down, you basically know
what is right and what is wrong, without anybody telling you. Your
conscience tells you.

As the Bible says . . .

ROMANS 2:14-15 (KJV)

14
For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by
nature the things contained in the law, these, having not
the law, are a law unto themselves:
15
Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts,
their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts
the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

God understands very well that we have guilt . . .

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
(Romans 3:23 KJV)

And God has provided a clear and simple way for us to eliminate all of
our guilt, now and forever: His Son, Jesus Christ.

By dying for us, in our place as a substitute for us, Jesus has paid
the death penalty for everyone who will accept His payment for
themselves. By shedding His own blood for us, He makes us clean.

"and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from
all sin." (1 John 1:7b KJV)

Whatever things you have done wrong in your entire life, Jesus can
wipe them away completely.

Summary Of All The Commandments Of Jesus

This is His one commandment which summarizes all the others:
********************************************************
"This is my commandment, that you love one another
as I have loved you." (John 15:12 RSV)
********************************************************
Here is the way He arrived at this one summary verse.
JOHN 15:9-12 (RSV)

_____________________________________________________________

9
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in
my love.
10
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love,
just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in
his love.
11
These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in
you, and that your joy may be full.
12
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I
have loved you.
_____________________________________________________________

This is not just one more commandment He added to a list. This one
commandment summarizes all the others: "Love one another as I have loved
you." "
NOTE: "Love one another" means "love all people," not just "love other
Christians."

Complete List Of The Commandments Of Jesus

Here, then, is the complete list of all the Commandments which Jesus
taught His disciples to observe, as I have found them recorded in the four
Gospels. They are organized into two groups: the Universal Moral Law, and
the Other Commandments Of Jesus.
A summary of each commandment is given first, then a detailed explanation
of each one, with Scriptural references.

It is always possible that I have overlooked a commandment or two. So in
order to make sure for yourself, please buy a Bible with the words of
Jesus written in red. Then read the red words first, and see for yourself!
As Jesus said, "the words I speak to you, they are spirit and they are
life." (John 6:63b KJV)

Detailed List Of The Commandments Of Jesus, With Scriptural References

The Universal Moral Law
This is the Universal Moral Law regarding your relationship with your
Creator and with all other people on Earth. This law now applies to
all people in all situations.

There are three parts to the Universal Moral Law . . .
1. The Law Of Love
2. The Ten Commandments
3. The Golden Rule

THE LAW OF LOVE
"First, love God your Creator more than anything
else. Then, love all other people the same as you
love yourself."
(Based on Matthew 22:35-40, restated in Mark
12:28-31 and Luke 10:25-28. The idea of all people
as neighbors is explained in Luke 10:29-37)
"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord
thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,
and with all thy mind. This is the first and great
commandment." (Matthew 22:37-38 KJV)
"And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang
all the law and the prophets. (Matthew 22:39-40 KJV)

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
Throughout the Old Testament, there are hundreds of "commandments,"
covering all parts of life. Collectively, these make up "the Law" of
the Old Covenant.

However, one group of commandments is very special, and it is known as
"the commandments." That is the Ten Commandments, dictated by God,
written in stone, and given to all people forever. The people of
Israel placed The Ten Commandments first, separate and distinct above
all others.

Most of The Law of the Old Covenant no longer applies to Christians
under the New Covenant (See Hebrews 8:13, etc.) However, the Ten
Commandments still apply, because they were ratified by Jesus in Mark
10:19 and Luke 18:20 when He said, "You know the commandments."

The Ten Commandments are given in two different places in the Bible,
once in Exodus 20:1-17 and once in Deuteronomy 5:6-22. The content is
the same in both places.
Here is the modern restatement of The Ten Commandments. After this is
the translation of the original text.
The Ten Commandments: Modern Restatement
1. "Do not put anything ahead of God your Creator."
2. "Do not make or worship idols."
3. "Do not take the name of God in vain."
4. "Take one day of complete rest each week, in honor of God."
5. "Honor your father and your mother."
6. "Do not commit murder."
7. "Do not commit adultery."
8. "Do not steal."
9. "Do not tell lies against anyone."
10. "Do not covet other people's possessions."
(Based on Exodus 20:1-17, restated in
Deuteronomy 5:6-22. Jesus did not specifically
restate commandments 2, 3, 4 or 10, but it was
understood that He endorsed and followed all of the
Ten Commandments.)

EXODUS 20:1-17 (KJV)
The Ten Commandments
1
And God spake all these words, saying,
2
I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of
the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or
any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or
that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water
under the earth.
NOTE: "Graven images" here means idols, not all
drawings or statues, as some have mistakenly
believed. If statues were prohibited, then
the two angel statues on the Ark Of The
Covenant would have been prohibited.
(See Exodus 25:18-20)
5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve
them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the
children unto the third and fourth generation of them
that hate me;
6
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love
me, and keep my commandments.
7
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in
vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that
taketh his name in vain.
8
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy
God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy
son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy
maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is
within thy gates:
11
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the
sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh
day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and
hallowed it.
12
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may
be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth
thee.
13
Thou shalt not kill.
NOTE: This is a prohibition against private killing,
not against killing in war or as punishment for
breaking the law. God specifically authorized
killing in war (see Deuteronomy 7:2, etc.)
and killing as punishment for certain crimes
(see Deuteronomy 13:9, etc.)
14
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15
Thou shalt not steal.
16
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy
neighbour.
17
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou
shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his
manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his
ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
* * *
"And all the people saw the thunderings, and the
lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the
mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they
removed, and stood afar off." (Exodus 20:18 KJV)

THE GOLDEN RULE
"Treat Others As You Would Like To Be Treated."
(Based on Matthew 7:12, restated in Luke 6:31)
"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men
should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is
the law and the prophets." (Matthew 7:12 KJV)

The Other Commandments Of Jesus
1. "FORGIVE EVERYBODY OF ALL THEIR OFFENSES AGAINST YOU."
(Forgive, and be forgiven.)
As you forgive other people, God will forgive you.

"And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our
debtors." (Matthew 6:12 KJV)
"And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have
ought against any: that your Father also which
in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
"But if ye do not forgive, neither will your
Father which is in heaven forgive your
trespasses." (Mark 11:25-26 KJV)

2. "YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN."
Being "born again" means casting off the spirit of the
flesh and taking on the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit,
Who is given by the grace of God to those who believe
in Jesus Christ as the only-begotten Son of God, risen
from the dead.

"Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born
again." (John 3:7 KJV)
3. "ABIDE IN ME, AND LET ME ABIDE IN YOU."

When you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour,
His Holy Spirit moves into your heart. He actually lives
in you, and you live in Him.
"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear
fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more
can ye, except ye abide in me." (John 15:4 KJV)

4. "LET PEOPLE SEE YOUR GOOD WORKS." (Do not hide your light
under a basket.)
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see
see your good works, and glorify your Father which is
in heaven." (Matthew 5:16 KJV; see also Matthew 5:15)
5. "END DISPUTES QUICKLY."
"Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art
in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary
deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee
to the officer, and thou be cast into prison."
(Matthew 5:25 KJV)
6. "WHATEVER CAUSES YOU TO SIN, GET RID OF IT."
"And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and
cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that
one of thy members should perish, and not that thy
whole body should be cast into hell.
"And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and
cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that
one of thy members should perish, and not that thy
whole body should be cast into hell."
(Matthew 5:29-30 KJV)
7. "DO NOT SWEAR OATHS AT ALL."
"But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by
heaven; for it is God's throne:

"Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by
Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

"Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou
canst not make one hair white or black.

"But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay:
for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil."

(Matthew 5:34-37 KJV)
8. "DO NOT RETURN OFFENSE FOR OFFENSE." (Turn the other cheek.)
"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an
eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

"But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but
whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn
to him the other also."
(Matthew 5:38-39 KJV)
9. "GIVE WHAT PEOPLE ASK OF YOU, AND GIVE MORE THAN IS REQUIRED."
(Go the extra mile.)

"And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take
away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.

"And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with
him twain.

"Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would
borrow of thee turn not thou away."
(Matthew 5:40-42 KJV)

10. "LOVE YOUR ENEMIES AND THOSE WHO WORK AGAINST YOU."

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them
that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and
pray for them which despitefully use you, and
persecute you;

"That ye may be the children of your Father which is
in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil
and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on
the unjust."

(Matthew 5:43-45 KJV)
11. "GIVE TO THE POOR TO PLEASE GOD, NOT TO GAIN APPROVAL
FROM OTHER PEOPLE."
"Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to
be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your
Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 6:1 KJV)
12. "PRAY PRIVATELY AND SIMPLY, NOT TO IMPRESS OTHER PEOPLE."
"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are:
for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the
corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I
say unto you, They have their reward.

"But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when
thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret;
and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

"But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do:
for they think that they shall be heard for their much
speaking."

(Matthew 6:5-7 KJV)

13. "MAKE YOUR PRAYERS BE LIKE THE LORD'S PRAYER."
After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom,
And the power,
And the glory,
For ever.
Amen.
(Matthew 6:9-15 KJV)

14. "WHEN YOU FAST, DO IT SECRETLY, NOT FOR SHOW."
"Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad
countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may
appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their
reward." (Matthew 6:16)

15. "STORE UP YOUR TREASURES IN HEAVEN, NOT ON EARTH."

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and
rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

"But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither
moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break
through nor steal:

"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
(Matthew 6:19-21)
16. "DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOUR MATERIAL NEEDS."

"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what
ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body,
what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the
body than raiment?

"Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they
reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth
them. Are ye not much better than they?"

(Matthew 6:25-26 KJV)
17. "DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE FUTURE."
"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall
take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day
is the evil thereof." (Matthew 6:34 KJV)
18. "MAKE GOD YOUR HIGHEST PRIORITY, AND HE WILL TAKE CARE OF
ALL YOUR NEEDS."
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be
added unto you." (Matthew 6:33 KJV)
19. "DO NOT JUDGE OTHER PEOPLE." (Judge not, lest ye be judged.)
"Judge not, that ye be not judged.

"For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with
what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again."

(Matthew 7:1-2 KJV)
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and
said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first
cast a stone at her. (John 8:7 KJV)

20. "DO NOT GIVE HOLY THINGS TO DOGS OR CAST YOUR PEARLS
BEFORE SWINE."
"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye
your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under
their feet, and turn again and rend you."
(Matthew 7:6 KJV)

21. "ASK GOD FOR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO HAVE." (Seek, and ye
shall find.)
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" (Matthew 7:7 KJV)
22. "FEED THE HUNGRY, CLOTHE THE NAKED, SHELTER THE HOMELESS,
COMFORT THOSE IN DISTRESS."

"Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come,
ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for
you from the foundation of the world:

"For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty,
and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

"Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I
was in prison, and ye came unto me.
(Matthew 25:34-36 KJV)
23. "FOLLOW THE NARROW PATH TO LIFE." (Enter by the narrow gate.)
The wide gate is the gate you simply stumble through, when you
are not paying attention.

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad
is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be
which go in thereat:

"Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which
leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
(Matthew 7:13-14 KJV)
24. "BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS."
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's
clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."
(Matthew 7:15 KJV)

25. "EXERCISE POWER OVER UNCLEAN SPIRITS."

"And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples,
he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out,
and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease."
(Matthew 10:1 KJV)
"Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast
out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."
(Matthew 10:8 KJV)
26. "LOVE LITTLE CHILDREN, DO NOT DESPISE THEM."
"Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones;
for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do
always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven."
(Matthew 18:10 KJV)

27. "DO NOT TAKE THE TITLES 'MASTER' OR 'FATHER' FOR YOURSELF."
"But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master,
even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

"And call no man your father upon the earth: for one
is your Father, which is in heaven.

"Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master,
even Christ.

"But he that is greatest among you shall be your
servant.

"And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased;
and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted."
(Matthew 23:8-12 KJV)
28. "RESOLVE DISPUTES IN AN ORDERLY WAY, LIKE THIS . . . "

"Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee,
go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone:
if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

"But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one
or two more, that in the mouth of two or three
witnesses every word may be established.

"And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto
the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let
him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican."
(Matthew 18:15-17 KJV)
29. "DO NOT OPPOSE OTHER BELIEVERS IN CHRIST WHO ARE NOT IN YOUR
GROUP."
"And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one
casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not
us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.

"But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man
which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly
speak evil of me.

"For he that is not against us is on our part."
(Mark 9:38-40 KJV)
30. "HAVE TOTAL FAITH IN GOD FOR EVERYTHING."

"And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in
God.

"For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say
unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast
into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but
shall believe that those things which he saith shall
come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye
desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them,
and ye shall have them."
(Mark 11:22-24 KJV)
31. "BE LIKE THE GOOD SAMARITAN." (Go, and do likewise.)
"Then Jesus said unto him, Go, and do thou
likewise." (Luke 10:37b KJV)
This was in reference to the Parable Of The
Good Samaritan, who helped and took care of
a man who had been attacked by robbers.
(See Luke 10:30-35)

32. "LOVE OTHER PEOPLE AS I HAVE LOVED YOU"
"This is my commandment, That ye love one another,
as I have loved you." (John 15:12 KJV)
NOTE: This one commandment summarizes
all the others.
33. "EAT BREAD AND DRINK WINE IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME."
"And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and
gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given
for you: do this in remembrance of me. Likewise also
the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new
testament in my blood, which is shed for you."
(Luke 22:19-20 KJV)
34. "WASH ONE ANOTHER'S FEET."
The full meaning of this dramatic command is for us
to care for each other's needs as if they were our own.
He also wants us literally to wash each other's feet.
"If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye
also ought to wash one another's feet." (John 13:14 KJV)
35. "BE MERCIFUL."
"Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful."
(Luke 6:36 KJV)
" . . . for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil."
(Luke 6:35b KJV)

36. "GO AND TEACH ALL NATIONS, BAPTIZING THEM."
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have
commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto
the end of the world." Amen. (Matthew 28:19-20 KJV)
37. "KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS."
"If you love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15 KJV)
38. "BE PREPARED FOR YOUR MASTER TO RETURN."
"Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh
at an hour when ye think not." (Luke 12:40 KJV)

May the Lord bless this presentation of His holy Word.

Amen.

Jesus Can Become Your Lord Right Now!

Beloved, you have now finished reading The Commandments Of Jesus. You now
know what Jesus really teaches. If you love His teaching, you will love
Him even more personally. You can have Him personally, dwelling inside you
as your own personal Lord and Saviour, with you all the time. This is
called "Salvation," or "being saved," or being "born again."
The Scriptural requirements for Salvation are set forth in Romans 10:9.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the
dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9 KJV)
Confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is your personal Lord, and
believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead: that's all it
takes to gain Salvation.
If any person prays this prayer out loud, sincerely believing these words,
he has met the scriptural requirements for salvation. Jesus Christ will
then come into his life as Lord and Saviour, as He promised.

"Personal Prayer Of Salvation"
O Lord, I know that You are waiting here,
For me to let You come into my life.
I know that You are knocking on the door,
And now I pray that You will enter in.
* * *
I pray that You will come into my life,
As Lord and Saviour, ruling over me.
I know that You are truly Son of God,
I know that You have risen from the dead,
I know that only You can save my soul.
I need Your guidance, and I need Your love;
I want to follow everywhere You lead.
I truly do repent of all my sins;
I feel remorse for evil I have done;
I know that only You can make me clean.
I turn my back on sin and look to You.
I am forgiving all who did me harm,
As You are now forgiving all my sins.
And now as I commit myself to You,
I pray that You commit Yourself to me.
I pray that You will take me as I am,
And draw me, step-by-step, into Your arms.
In Jesus' holy name I pray, Amen.
<><
Blessings to you in Jesus Christ, our Lord! If you said this prayer
sincerely, you are now a Christian. Congratulations!
Now, what next? You have made the committment to Jesus, so what should you
do now? Write to me and tell me! Then, go tell the first practicing
Christian you can find. He (she) will know what to do next. And also

even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour
as thyself." (Galatians 5:14 KJV)

"This is my commandment, That ye love one another,
as I have loved you." (John 15:12 KJV)

And the Bible says that EVERYONE IS YOUR NEIGHBOR!
http://www.loveallpeople.org/pearl-everyoneisyourneighbor.html
The Lord wants us to love others as we love ourselves and as He has loved
us. But how exactly do we do this?

The basic way is this: "TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED."
This this is the Golden Rule, God's guideline for all mankind.
http://www.loveallpeople.org/golden.html

Our love begins within our heart, from the Holy Spirit within us. Then it
flows outward, towards others. But sometimes we have difficulty knowing
how to express this love and give it to others.

This ministry provides practical techniques and methods for giving your
love to other people.

INTRODUCTION - First thoughts from 1998

"I hope this little book leads you to experience the total
joy that comes only through loving other people."

=> Introduction - http://www.loveallpeople.org/loveintro.html
THE SCRIPTURAL MANDATE TO LOVE OTHER PEOPLE

"Love All People As Yourself."
The Bible states it very clearly, so there can be no possible
misunderstanding: the Law Of Love fulfills the whole Law of God.

THE LAW OF LOVE
_____________________________________________________________

For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, "You shall love your
neighbor as yourself." (Galatians 5:14 RSV)
_____________________________________________________________

And who is your neighbor? Everyone is your neighbor. This is shown in the
Parable Of The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37, shown below). Therefore,
"Love your neighbor as yourself" really means "Love all people as
yourself," because everyone is our neighbor.
But what about love for God? Doesn't that come first? Yes, but God counts
our love for others as if it were love for Himself. So when we love
others, we are loving Him at the same time. This is shown in the Parable
Of The Sheep And The Goats (Matthew 25:31-46, in the Appendix below). And
we cannot claim to love God until we first love our fellow man.

_____________________________________________________________
If any one says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a
liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen,
cannot love God whom he has not seen. (1 John 4:20 RSV)
_____________________________________________________________
But what about The Ten Commandments? Aren't we supposed to obey them? Yes,
but The Ten Commandments are only an approximation of what God wants from
us. The Pharisees obeyed all of the Ten Commandments, yet God was very
displeased with them because they did not have love. The exact thing God
wants from us is that we should love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
Everything else depends on this.

But what about holiness? Aren't we supposed to avoid improper sex, etc.
and be pure and chaste? Aren't we supposed to deny our physical selves in
order to strengthen our spiritual selves? Maybe so, but our feeble
attempts at being holy do not even come close to God's high standards. To
Him, they are like filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). But if we have love for
others, God will overlook a multitude of our sins (1 Peter 4:8). And if we
forgive others of their offenses against us, He will forgive us of our
offenses against Him (Matthew 5:14-15). Love makes everything holy, since
God is love (1 John 4:8, 4:16).

So all of God's requirements for mankind boil down to this one command:
"YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." If you truly do this one thing
only, it is enough. It then doesn't matter if you fall short on some of
the dozens of others. But if you do not do this, all of the others
together are not enough. This is the big one, more important than all the
others combined.

_____________________________________________________________

If you really fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture,
"You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well.
(James 2:8 RSV)

TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED

The best way to express your love for other people is to always follow The
Golden Rule, "Treat Others As You Would Like To Be Treated."
http://www.loveallpeople.org/golden.html
THERE IS ONE UNDERLYING RULE FOR RIGHT AND WRONG BEHAVIOR:
"TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED."
This rule is known as "The Golden Rule." Some version of it is found in
most religions, yet it establishes no particular religion; it leads to
harmony among all people; it is the foundation of Democracy; and it leads
to the political goal of "Greatest Good For The Greatest Number, With
Basic Rights For All."

To apply the Golden Rule, simply ask yourself "How would you like to be
treated in the same situation?" Then treat the other person that way. TWO
NOTES:(1) When we say, "Treat others as you would like to be treated,"
this includes all other people, not merely those who happen to be with us
at the moment. So we must also consider the impact of our actions on all
other people, not only those immediately before us. (2) When we say "in
the same situation," this means that our roles and personalities must be
mentally reversed, so that we see the situation from the other person's
point of view, trying to understand his needs and desires as if they were
our own. Also, we need to apply the "Rational Man" standard,
long-established in Law. The Golden Rule does not require us to grant
irrational requests made by insane persons.

situation, please visit

LEARN HOW TO ENJOY OTHER PEOPLE

The common experience of mankind is that if you enjoy someone, it is easy
to love them; but if you do not enjoy them, then it is hard to love them.
So we see that enjoying other people is a big part of loving them.
It is difficult to love other people if we do not enjoy them.

=> We Must Love One Another -
http://www.internetchurchofchrist.org/wemustloveoneanother.html
=> How To Enjoy Other People -
http://www.internetchurchofchrist.org/howtoenjoyotherpeople.html
How To Enjoy Other people

Here are four things to do, which will help you enjoy other people . . .
1. First, set your mind on doing it. Recognize that God wants you to enjoy
other people, not only because He wants you to be able to love them, but
also because He loves you and wants you to have more enjoyment for
yourself! So you have God's complete permission to enjoy other people,
maybe far more than you ever imagined.

2. For every person you encounter, try to find at least one thing about
them which you enjoy. Examples: beautiful face, sweet smile, pretty eyes,
sweet voice, pleasant mannerisms, graceful movements, nice hair,
intelligence, ability with words, ability to fix things, creative
personality, good personality, comforting presence, generosity, ability to
solve problems, personal leadership skills, good sense of style,
attractive body parts, good attitude with children, helpful personality,
good intentions, nice smell, attractive clothing, good attitude with other
people, sincerity, honesty, etc. If you find more enjoyable things about
them, go ahead and list them in your mind.

3. For each thing you enjoy about that person (above), please think of a
complete sentence which expresses your thought. For instance, "I enjoy
watching her smile," or "I enjoy the pleasing sound of his voice." Then
say that sentence out loud, to yourself. Or better yet, tell it to someone
else.

4. If there are things you do not enjoy about that person, do not express
those thoughts in words, because that would make you think about them even
more. But instead, think to yourself one of the following explanations:

"Maybe they can't help it." or
"Maybe they have their own good reasons for being that way." or

"Maybe they don't realize what they are doing."

In other words, give them a good excuse for whatever it is that you do not
enjoy.
If you will do these things, you will be well on your way to developing
your love for others, as well as increasing your own personal enjoyment in
your life.

UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TOLERANCE AND APPROVAL

In our culture today, there are certain controversial actions which we may
be able to tolerate but may never fully approve of. Among these
controversial actions are: unrestricted sex among consenting adults,
including homosexual acts, adultery, and prostitution; abortion; same-sex
civil unions and/or marriage; and rights to die, including suicide and
mercy killing.
Without going into the merits of these issues at this time, we can
nevertheless recognize the important differences between Tolerance and
Approval.

"Tolerance" is allowing something to exist without actively opposing it,
even though we do not like it very much and we do not think it is a good
thing. "Approval" is helping something to exist because we do like it and
we do think it is a good thing.

Thus it is easier for us to tolerate something than it is to approve of
it. (Please see our conceptual model for this idea at
http://www.loveallpeople.org/tolerancevsapproval.html)

Here are two easy examples from everyday life, which illustrate the
difference between Tolerance and Approval.

We tolerate babies crying in public, because it is in their nature to cry
sometimes, and what can we really do to stop it? But we do not approve of
babies crying in public. Their mothers should try to keep them as quiet as
possible, so as not to annoy other people and not to interfere with other
people's rights of "quiet enjoyment."
Traffic police frequently tolerate driving speeds of five or ten miles per
hour above the posted limits on major highways. They cannot actually
approve of driving faster than the speed limits, because they are required
to enforce the law, and the law sets the speed limits. But they can simply
not enforce the minor infractions.

To love other people, we must sometimes tolerate some of their behaviors
which we cannot approve of.
In these cases, it it may be helpful to give them the benefit of these
three time-tested excuses . . .

"Maybe they can't help it." or
"Maybe they have their own good reasons for being that way." or

"Maybe they don't realize what they are doing."

In other words, give them a good excuse for doing whatever it is that you
do not approve of, but need to tolerate.
If you will do these things, you will be well on your way to developing
your love for others, as well as increasing your own personal enjoyment in
your life.

INCREASE YOUR LOVE FOR OTHERS BY DOING GOOD TO THEM

It is a happy fact of human nature, that we increase our love for others
by doing good to them. The more good we do to other people, the more our
love for them increases. Try it for yourself, and you will see.
IF WE LOVE, WE MUST FORGIVE

If we love them, we must forgive them. Just as God loves us and has
forgiven us, we must also forgive them. If we will not forgive others, God
will not forgive us! Simple as that. People who claim to be Christians but
who will not forgive are merely deceiving themselves.
A METHOD OF GRANTING FORGIVENESS

But you may say, "I know I should forgive them, but it is very hard to do.
How can I do it? What should I do?"

Here is a good way to go about granting your forgiveness to others.

First, let me pray for you, to help you grant your forgiveness.

"As You Forgive, So Shall You Be Forgiven"

I pray that you will learn this teaching well,
I pray that you engrave it on your heart.
The Lord has spoken clearly as can be:
"As you forgive, so shall you be forgiven."
* * *
So if someone has done you wrong, forgive!
And if somebody steals from you, forgive!
And if they lie and laugh at you, forgive!
And if they beat you half to death, forgive!
* * *
So when the day of judgment comes for you,
And He reviews the life that you have led,
I pray the record shows that you forgave,
So He can say, "I likewise do forgive."
* *
In Jesus' name I pray for you, Amen.

by Rev.Bill McGinnis, Public Domain
Next, you make a list of everyone you can think of who has ever done you
wrong or aroused anger in you. Call this your "Forgiveness List." On this
list, write down the name of each offender, and a brief description of the
thing(s) he did bad to you.
Then, say this prayer, asking the Lord to help you.

THIS PRAYER IS FOR YOU, YOURSELF, TO PRAY
"To Grant Your Forgiveness"

NOTE: This is a prayer for you to grant your forgiveness
to everyone who has hurt you or has aroused the emotion of
anger in you. You need to make a list of these people,
complete to the best of your ability. If you don't know a
particular name, you may merely describe the situation, like
"The man who ran my car off the road last year, then drove
away." As you are praying, you refer to this "forgiveness
list." You may repeat this prayer whenever you need to.
As a Christian, you never want to hold a grudge against
anyone very long.

* * *

O Lord, I raise my humble prayer to you,
That you might soothe my soul and grant me peace,
For I have burned in anger, raged in wrath.
I have a list where I have written down
The names of those I want now to forgive.

So Lord, I now declare that I forgive
The people who are listed here today.
For every wrong that they have done to me,
I do forgive and blot out of my heart.
For any anger they aroused in me,
I do forgive them, each and every one.
And any others, not upon this list,
I also do forgive them, every one.
I do sincerely promise this to you.

And as I now forgive those listed here,
I pray that you will likewise grant to me,
Complete forgiveness for my many sins.
In Jesus' name I pray to you, Amen.

by Bill McGinnis, Public Domain

Finally, go down the list of people, one-by-one. Deliberately forgive each
person, saying, "In the name of Jesus, I forgive you." Then write beside
each name the words, "I forgive you," and scratch out the name and the
offense(s).
If necessary in the future, make additional forgiveness lists, and repeat
this procedure.

JESUS ENABLES US TO LOVE OTHERS AS OURSELF

By our own flawed human nature, it is almost impossible to love others as
we love ourself. Maybe some few people can do it, but most people cannot
even come close. But when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord, His Holy
Spirit enters us and dwells within us, transforming our flawed nature into
a more perfect nature, more like His own.

HOW TO LOVE STRANGERS

It is easy to love those who already know you and love you. So here is the
way to love strangers.
First, Give Them What They Ask For - unless you have a good reason not to
do so.
Next, Give Them What They Really Want - as best you can determine it.

Finally, Give Them What They Clearly Need - but do not assume too much.

Always Follow The Law Of Love And The Golden Rule ("Love your neighbor as
yourself," and "Treat others as you would like to be treated."

The Gift Of Your Blessing -

When we pray for someone, the conversation is between us and the Lord.
When we give our blessings, however, the conversation is between us and
the other person directly, with the Lord listening in, observing.

A blessing is the opposite of a curse. As Christians, we almost never want
to curse anybody for anything. In contrast, we should dispense our
blessings freely, whenever the Spirit leads us to do so.

There are two proven formats for giving a blessing to other people. You
can give it directly to them, using the word "May," followed by whatever
good things you want them to receive. Or you can invoke the Lord's help,
using the words "May the Lord," followed by whatever good things you want
Him to give them. Here are examples . . .

Examples Of Direct Blessings

"May you have a safe trip home, with no difficulties of any kind."
"May your days be filled with joy."

"May your pain subside and your illness go away."

"May you get the job you are trying to obtain."

"May your grief pass by like a cloud, and may peace return to your heart."

"May your heart be filled with joy at this moment of happiness for you."

Examples Of Blessings Which Invoke The Lord's Help

"May the Lord richly bless you as you continue your work in His behalf."
"May the Lord give you a safe trip home, with no problems of any kind."

"May the Lord wipe away your tears and give you peace of mind."

"May the Lord bring love and harmony into your home."

* * *
So don't be shy. Just go ahead and start blessing people, as the Spirit
leads. When Holy Spirit prompts you to give a blessing, do it! Just walk
right up to the other person, maybe shake their hand or touch them, look
them in the eye, and pronounce your blessing on them.
They will recognize immediatly that this is a major expression of love,
and they will *always* appreciate it.

Be sure to give Christ the glory by identifying yourself as a Christian.
The Lord *loves* to use imperfect vessels for His work, so don't feel
unworthy if you are less than a "perfect" Christian. You are *always*
authorized to dispense love to other people: ALWAYS!

I pray the Lord will brighten up your sky.

"The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they
that dwell therein."

Everything on or in the earth belongs to God.
Genesis 1:28
"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply,
and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of
the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that
moveth upon the earth."
God placed mankind in charge of the earth, as His manager of it.
He wants us to fill it up with people and exercise control over it.
Revelation 4:11
"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou
hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."

The purpose of all things -- including every human life --
is to give pleasure to God.
Psalms 149:4
"For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek
with salvation."
God takes pleasure in His people, those who humbly love Him.
James 4:8a
"Draw nigh (near) to God, and he will draw nigh (near) to you."
God wants us to seek Him, and when we do, He responds by
moving closer to us.

Psalms 23:6
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I
will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."
We, who love Him, will live with Him forever.
1 Corinthians 13:12
"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know
in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."
It is impossible for us to know certain things at this time.
But later, we will understand everything clearly.
Matthew 22:37-40
"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great
commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour
as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."
Love God and love your neighbor, which means everybody. This is the
essence of the way He wants us to live.
Galatians 5:14
"For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love
thy neighbour as thyself."
Love for others fulfills all of God's law.
1 Peter 4:8
"And above all things have fervent charity (love) among yourselves: for
charity (love) shall cover the multitude of sins."
Love for others covers all our sins.
Matthew 6:14-15
"For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also
forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your
Father forgive your trespasses."
If you will not forgive other people, God will not forgive you.
Romans 14:12
"So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God."
After we die, each of us will have to give an account of our life
to God, to be judged by Him . . .
Romans 2:6
"Who will render to every man according to his deeds:"
And God will reward each of us according to what we have done.
John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Everyone who relies completely on Jesus will not perish at death,
but will live forever.
Matthew 28:18-20
"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in
heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and,
lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen"
Jesus now has been given all power in heaven and in earth; and
He wants His followers to recruit more followers for Him.
John 8:32
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
Therefore, we should always seek the truth, avoiding the bondage
of deception.
Matthew 5:44-45
"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good
to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and
persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in
heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and
sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."
Love all people, even your enemies.
Matthew 7:7
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it
shall be opened unto you:"
Seek the Lord sincerely and diligently, and He will give you
everything you need.
Philippians 4:6
"Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
Be anxious for nothing; ask God prayerfully for whatever you desire.
John 10:10
"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am
come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly."
Jesus came to give us life, not to take it from us.
Matthew 7:12
"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye
even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."
Treat others as you would like to be treated, for this is what God
wants us to do.
Galatians 6:7
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that
shall he also reap."
What you do comes back to you.
Romans 8:28
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose."
Everything works together for our own good, if we love God.
John 14:16
"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that
he may abide with you for ever;"
The Holy Spirit comforts us, and He lives with us forever.
John 14:26
"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in
my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your
remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."
The Holy Spirit will teach us personally, and will also help
us to recall the teachings of Jesus we have previously learned.
John 10:27
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:"
If we belong to Jesus, we can hear His voice and we can follow Him.
Romans 12:18
"If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men."
Try as much as possible to live at peace with all people.
Romans 13:7-8
"Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due;
custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Owe no
man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath
fulfilled the law."
Give other people whatever they are justly entitled to receive from
you. If you love all other people, you have fulfilled God's law.
Philippians 4:8
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are
honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any
virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Keep your mind on good things, not bad things.
Job 14:1
"Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.
We humans live a brief life on earth, filled with many troubles . . .
Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no
more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more
pain: for the former things are passed away.
But everything will work out well for us, in the end.

Normal, Everyday Life In Harmony With The Will Of God
Day-To-Day Living With The Lord

By Rev. Bill McGinnis, Director - LoveAllPeople.org

Some people prefer a private type of religion, where they simply want to
live their lives in a normal everyday manner, in harmony with the will of
God. They don't want to save any souls, or lead any movements, or be a
conspicuous "religious person" in any way.

Such people are acceptable to God, although He would prefer that they take
a more open active stance for Him. And He reserves his best blessings for
those who openly and boldly express their love and devotion to Him.

Nevertheless, He loves and accepts those who simply want to live in
private accord with His will for them.

For these people, here is all they really need to do: THE BARE MINIMUM . .
.

1. Accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.
Click HERE! to do that. => http://www.loveallpeople.org/gateway.html
Jesus promises that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life." (John 3:16 KJV)

2. Follow the Golden Rule, which is, "Treat Others The Way You Would Like
To Be Treated."
Click HERE! to find out more about the Golden Rule =>
http://www.loveallpeople.org/golden.html
Jesus teaches that all of God's law is embodied in the Golden Rule.

The Golden Rule

_____________________________________________________________

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to
you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."
(Matthew 7:12 KJV)
_____________________________________________________________

If you do these two things alone, you will meet all of God's minimum
requirements. You will have a full and rich life on earth, and you will
have an eternity in heaven after you leave this life. You will NOT reach
your highest potential, and you will not receive the highest blessings.
(To achieve these things, you would need to seek Him actively and to
desire intensely to be ever-closer to Him at all times.) But you will be
okay. And for many people, this is all they seek.

IMPROVEMENTS OVER THE BARE MINIMUM . . .
Also Follow The Ten Commandments

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (Restated for people outside of Biblical Israel)

1. "Do not put anything ahead of God your Creator."
2. "Do not make or worship idols."
3. "Do not take the name of God in vain."
4. "Take one day of complete rest each week."
5. "Honor your father and your mother."
6. "Do not commit murder."
7. "Do not commit adultery."
8. "Do not steal."
9. "Do not tell lies against anyone."
10. "Do not covet other people's possessions."
(Based on Exodus 20:1-17, restated in Deuteronomy 5:6-22.)
