City seemed paralized by the snow storm 2 weeks ago and had no idea
which roads were passable or not.
Some areas like Howard County have an online map where they are
tracking snow plow trucks in real-time (http://
howardcountymdpublic.eroadtrack.com). I don't think Baltimore
currently has this capability and if they did, having them setup an
online interface for the public would probably take longer than the
season.
I'd like to build a low-fi solution this weekend that would let people
authenticate themselves with FB/Twitter and then they can draw lines
on a communal city map which basically translates to them vouching
that the road they are specifying is passable.
