Geometry Dash is a musical-based platformer game developed by Robert Topala of RobTop games. The player is sent to complete side-scrolling levels, dodging spikes and hitting orbs in 7 different game modes. Three coins are hidden in each level as a bonus to unlock new features such as colors, icons and levels with a "demon" rating, the hardest of all Geometry Dash difficulties.

There are a total of 21 levels in this game with the music composed by OcularNebula, ForeverBound, DJVI, Step, Waterflame, DJ Nate, F-777, MDK and Kevin MacLeod, as well as Robtop himself. There is also a level editor where players can make their own levels and choose music from the site Newgrounds. Millions of custom levels exist already, with new ones released every few seconds.

When someone hears the name "hoppingicon", Geometry Dash is sure to be the first thing that comes to mind. This is because the username hoppingicon references that game, where the default cube mode (or known as the icon) hops to get across platforms and over the spikes.

On April 19, 2016, the most popular Scratcher of all time, griffpatch, made his own creation of Geometry Dash on Scratch. It contains only the first three levels from the original game: Stereo Madness, Back on Track, and Polargeist. As of December 2020, the game has over 28 million views and 100,000 loves and favorites, making it the second most popular Scratch project of all time. Five months after the original game's release, Corey remixed the project and redid it so it includes the next three levels, Dry Out, Base After Base, and Can't Let Go. The project as of December 2020 has over 500,000 views and 2,000 loves and favorites, making it Corey's second most popular Scratch project of all time, and the 118th most viewed Scratch project of all time. Because of it's success, Corey made a sequel project a month later, containing the levels of Jumper and Time Machine, which gained much more popularity than the precessor. With 580,000 views, 3,000 loves and 2,800 favorites, it remains as Corey's most popular Scratch project of all time and the 110th most viewed Scratch project of all time.

The unique traits of Geometry Dash v1.5 Levels 4-6 and Geometry Dash v1.5 Levels 7-8 are it's newly added game modes. The magenta orbs and pads that were present in the official game were not present in griffpatch's game, and Corey added just that. With some help from his friend CrystalKeeper7 (creator of the Scratch remake Geometry Dash Subzero), mirror mode was too possible for the level Time Machine. Levels 4-6 additionally has a fake upside down mode as it was a big difficulty to do at the time. CrystalKeeper7 eventually made Levels 9-13 himself, followed by another Scratcher known as chikomastr doing the rest (although he never finished it).

As time had passed, new Scratchers eventually learned the ways of hoppingicon and began adding their own elements to the game. Notable people include, but are not limited to: iPhone_ATT_TWC115, Fireball_3600 and Iceball_362. The most notable is iPhone_ATT_TWC115, as he has helped add several new gamemodes and releases remakes of Geometry Dash custom levels almost every day, having a viewer count just barely below hoppingicon's viewer count.

As of July 26, 2020, Corey now creates new remakes of the levels after Time Machine, starting with Cycles. Cycles includes a ball mode where the player clicks to flip it's gravity when on a solid surface. Corey designed the gamemode himself with some help from the Scratch user 2054381. The levels can be glitchy, however, as the ball mode differs from the original mode and the upside down cube mode can be a little bouncy.

In 2021, a new series that uses CaptainFlufBall's Geometry Dash editor opposed to griffpatch's began. Unfortunately, the ratings are low, probably due to lag and the fact it must be played on Turbowarp.

An agreement led Corey into making a web series known as "The Geometry Dash Show" (abbreviated as TGDS). It is based on jacknjellify's Battle for Dream Island, and aforementioned is based on Total Drama Island. 20 cube contestants named after what colors they are compete in various micro challenges, where the winners gain immunity and the losers are to be voted out by the viewers. Whoever gets the most votes gets eliminated. On some instances, players could vote players up for elimination to win a prize too. Midway into the game, a recommended contestant got to join. Despite the extremely short episodes and laziness of progress, the series still managed to end with a winner.

The series was renewed for a second season with several new characters added to the show, but only three episodes released and was cancelled off, the third episode removed entirely. Despite the series' cancellation, the characters still make frequent appearances on hoppingicon's Scratch content. It also marks the debut of the original character and mascot, Corey the TGDS Host (named after his creator due to "Corey" being his Geometry Dash username at the time).
