I've kept my photos in protected folder with free trial version. I've reinstalled windows on my PC and lost connection with my folder. I made a copy of protected folder on ext.hard drive but there is only label now and nothing inside. Could you find my folder because it is my collection of photos for few years? It is very important for me, help me, please!...
I have copied the protected folder on an external HD. Unfortunately I have not checked up this folder contain - together with photos or only a label (?) Then I have reinstalled windows and also copied a protective folder from external HD back on a computer. But there was only a label (On the external disk and on the computer) May be you have my photos in your recorded files? Help me, please!
So I keep a folder called "Master File" on my computer so that I can easily organize my games, utilities, documents, etc. all on one path instead of all lumped together in program files. I downloaded the program and set a password without locking any files or folders, now that i want to lock a file or folder i cant because i have forgotten the password i set up. First off in the future do not make a program that has a password lockout of uninstalling this is a form of malware, we should not have to reformat the HDD to remove a program period. second off make a way to retrieve lost passwords or even reset them though registered e-mail or something because people forgetting their password these days is a very common thing. In any event we would like a way to get this program of yours off our computers, I loved iobit with ASC free and smart defrag etc. but you should never make a program with no way to remove it if password is locked that is ludicrous.
I'm trying your "Protected Folder" program (trial version) but it seems that when i lock a folder on an external drive or a USB key on MY PC and then i install this USB stick on another computer none of the folders are protected anymore ... ? Is it normal ? Is there a solution ? A portable version to be installed on external drives (HHD for instance) ?
When the license expires, IObit Protected Folder will continue to function as full Premium untill the total of 30 trials are used (It will warn you when 3 trials are left until no trial is left), then it will only unlock/unhide the protected files/folders. (No more protection for newly chosen files and folders.)
I have found a way to unlock a folder/image/document etc. from 'Protected Folder' through a feature in Windows 11 (not sure if this also applies to Windows 10). If you right click the desktop to bring up the shortcut menu (click on 'show more options' in Win11) to expand the menu and right at the bottom of the menu click on 'File Ownership' and select 'Personal' which displays an unlocked lock and voila Bob's your uncle. The only drawback is if you have hundreds of images to unprotect because you can only select 8 to 10 files per task. If it's a protected folder then it will unporotect everything in that folder. The process is slow but well worth it and you can then re install the Protected Folder app anew.

This would not affect the already protected programs, unless he unlocks them and tries to lock them back again, but the user wouldn't be able to protect anymore files or folders located under the C: directory.
