Diplo's online course on Climate Change Diplomacy provides relevant knowledge and practical skills for diplomats, scientists and others who participate in the climate change policy process. The course focuses on scientific, economic, social and governance aspects of climate change, with emphasis on development issues. The course is regularly updated to reflect developments in the ongoing climate change policy process.
In Diplo courses, participants learn in a vibrant environment in small groups of a maximum of 25 participants. They receive personal attention from course tutors, which is a distinctive feature of our training methodology. In addition, participants engage in intensive peer-to-peer exchange and debate. By the end of the course, participants will have gained the necessary knowledge and skills to participate effectively in climate change policy processes.
While achieving a high learning impact, Diplo online courses leave a low carbon footprint. In 2010, by studying via the Internet from their offices and homes rather than travelling to attend the course, participants in Diplo's Climate Change Course saved approximately 145 tons of C02 emissions.
In preparation for the 2011 meeting in Durban, South Africa, Diplo will run two parallel sessions of Climate Change Diplomacy. A limited number of scholarships will be provided for qualified candidates representing small and developing countries. The course was developed and is run with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malta and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Climate Change Diplomacy begins the week of 29 August 2011. The application deadline is 1 August. For more information about our 2011 courses and to apply, please visit www.diplomacy.edu/Courses/Climate.asp or contact us at cli...@diplomacy.edu.
