Wednesday U23 Development Night Sign-up & other Ultimate opportunities

Hey guys,

I'm really excited for a new PADA offering I'm helping with this year; Wednesday U23 Development Night at Memorial Field (down the road from Edgely). For any of you who are 23 years old or younger (and 16 or older), it would be great to have you join (sign up here!) It starts next week, so please sign up right away!

The basic setup is that every Wednesday, we do some drills and teaching, followed by competitive small-field games like mini, goaltimate, and the like, playing some mixed and some men's/women's. And we have experienced club players from AMP, Citywide, Patrol, and GMG who are going to help out with drilling and teaching, and maybe play a little. I expect people will improve particularly in dump defense, downfield defensive awareness, throws to space, breaking the mark, and recognizing and attacking space on offense.

It's only $30, and I think it's a great way to improve your game and get a ton of extra touches in, which will help you be sharp for your other Ultimate endeavors. It is also a chance to meet the next generation of Philadelphia club players (currently high schoolers) and to meet and learn from other members of the local competitive club community. If we do this right, I think it'll be great for young players in the area and for the Club community as a whole, and your support will help make that happen.

Finally, just a quick aside, the TD of our Pittsburgh tryout tournament is also involved running Mars, a fun 3-day mixed tournament in Pittsburgh over 4th of July weekend. She's looking to fill out the tournament sooner rather than later, so if you're planning on going, make sure to get your bids in. The Patrol/Citywide schedule has left that weekend open, and also the last weekend of July for Wildwood.

If you're 24 or older and would like to help out, please let me know! Please also reach out to your college teammates (men and women) and any high school connections you have. I could really use your support in getting this thing off the ground. 

But I also think it's a solid concept that can turn out really well. I think all of us can benefit from an extra hour or two of reps throwing, catching, drilling, and competing.  And where else do you get to play in a weekly Goaltimate game?
