I find the omissions in the June 11 meeting minutes interesting. One
omission was the fact that the Council was providing misinformation
as to the legal process. I am pretty certain I started my public
comments with an admonition that folks seek legal guidance and not
rely on anything they heard from Council that night. Later events
proved that Council was misinforming the public and such admonition
was well-advised. More interesting is the several times during the
meeting Council referenced the suit was about the Alvin Park, but the
Mayor the day after the judgment was entered in the Travis county suit
specifically refuted that the suit was related to the Alvin park. ALL
COUNCIL wanted to make sure the public was misinformed and that was
apparent when I approached the podium and without uttering a word was
assailed by all of the councilmembers The only conclusion I could
draw from their reaction was that they ALL wanted to make sure the
Mayor had every opportunity to misstate the legal process. That
coupled with the June 1 concealment of the lawsuit by ALL
Councilmembers is proof enough that this Council will say and do
anything to try handle city affairs in secret. THERE IS ANOTHER
SECRET MEETING ON WEDNESDAY - - eventhough Council has a regular
meeting scheduled for September 14, 2009. A PROJECTION OF 62 SECRET
MEETINGS FOR 2009 ACCORDING TO THE CITIES' BUDGET. . .
