Moratorium for planting new trees where there are not detached sidewalks and tree lawns

Hello,

As you're likely aware, the City of Denver recently passed the Denver Deserves Sidewalks Initiative. This initiative shifts the responsibility for installing and maintaining sidewalks from the adjacent property owner to the City of Denver.

However, we have a number of neighborhoods that have no sidewalks or a narrow sidewalk along the street. Unfortunately, many locations are now impossible to install sidewalks due to trees being planted where the sidewalk would have otherwise been installed.

For this reason, I'm requesting a moratorium on new tree plantings until a new sidewalk is installed, or a future sidewalk location is identified.

Otherwise, we're going to make it difficult or impossible to install new sidewalks.
