Hello All,

As we all know, City Park Jazz has a long history of using the Historic City Park Band Stand for their performances. However, we tragically had a fire that burned the bandstand, but the popularity of City Park Jazz & attendance has grown significantly over the years.

Have we considered shifting to the opposite side of Ferril Lake? Could we consider shifting to the opposite side of Ferril Lake?

This will provide more space for Food Trucks, Porta-Potties, & allow more patrons to sit on the grassy hillside while enjoying the performances. The hillside would even act like a grass amphitheater, likely making the event even better for everyone!

It will then help to keep the D8 Bike Route to the South of Ferril Lake unobstructed for bike commuters simply trying to get from Point A to Point B. That stretch of roadway is the mostly heavily used section of roadway by both pedestrians & bike commuters, yet it is the roadway that is closed for special events with no clear detour around it...
Why not at least try it?

Please reply all with your response, whether you are with the City of Denver, City Park Jazz, or Denver City Council.
If it goes well, maybe we can consider a larger & improved band stand in that location to serve City Park Jazz & other events like graduation ceremonies or the Colfax Marathon.

Thank you in advance for your consideration!

Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson

Hello again,

Just wanted to follow up on this request and to ascertain why we can't relocate City Park Jazz to the opposite side of Ferrill Lake.

It's clearly the better option, not just to keep the D8 bike route unobstructed but also for people coming just to enjoy the performance.

It's also an issue because we never bother to put up any sort of detour or wayfinding for people simply trying to commute by bike through the park utilizing one of the many bike connections installed directing riders to to the roadway to the south of Ferrill Lake and the City Park Pavilion.

So again, I'm asking for the event to be adjusted going forward, OR for some explanation as to why it can't be set up at the bottom of the hill from the Museum of Nature and Science.

Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson
