Hello everyone,

Please see the thread below.

I've been back and forth with the DOTI bike parking team about what constitutes "secure" anchors when installing bike racks. See blue text below.

I think this is especially important, when the bike racks are in the public right-of-way, leaving the bike exposed to tampering.

I'm asking anybody with information or resources to please follow up with the team at BikeP...@denvergov.org.

I feel that I've done all that I can.
Personally, I won't park my bike at a location where there aren't secure anchors on both sides of the rack. This means that there are fewer places that I will feel comfortable riding to with my personal bicycle. This is something that can be easily addressed at very little cost.

If you're willing, please reply to all with the information.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson

Thank you for your response.

Again, I disagree that a single security nut for the whole rack meets the standards.

The diagram clearly points to a single anchor in the requirements, therefore applying to ALL the anchors.

Here is the photo.

I request a second opinion.

Thank you,

Good morning Bryan –

Thank you for reaching out!

Do you have closer pictures of the highlighted nuts?  Since it’s not a high-resolution image, when I zoom in, it gets out of focus.

As a friendly reminder, if these racks have at least one (1) anti-theft bolt, they meet the minimum requirements from the City and County of Denver.

Thanks again for your communication and concerns!

Kindest regards,

Subject: [EXTERNAL] 4905 E Colfax Ave: Bike racks missing security nuts

Hello,  The bike racks installed at The Marlow Redevelopment lack adequate secure anchors on each side. I believe they all need to have security nuts added to both sides of the racks.  ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍
