Dear Friend,

It was a busy week in Washington, but I’m proud to share that we have reason to celebrate. My health care bill, the DeOndra Dixon INCLUDE Project Act, passed the House unanimously! This bipartisan legislation will surge research funding and accelerate our understanding of Down syndrome and conditions that often occur with Down syndrome, such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, and many others.

In Denver, we’re privileged to have renowned physicians, researchers and facilities to care for our friends and neighbors with Down syndrome. I’ll be working with my colleagues to ensure it quickly passes the Senate and gets signed into law so that we can do more to support our Down syndrome community. If you want to know more about this bill, read here.

Also, this week, we voted to stop Trump’s illegal war with Iran for the second time. Four Republicans joined with all the Democrats to once again end Trump’s reckless war that is doing nothing but destabilizing the region while making our country less safe and our lives here less affordable.

Meanwhile, House Republicans continued their doomed march toward passing Trump’s election-year agenda. They jammed through a short-term government funding bill that intentionally left a back door open to fund Customs and Border Patrol, even though this rogue agency is already funded through fiscal year 2029. They also squeezed through a $1.15 trillion defense spending bill that funnels more money to Trump’s illegal war with Iran. And if that’s not bad enough, House Republicans schemed to attach Trump’s anti-democratic voting bill before it heads to the Senate for consideration. Trump and Congressional Republicans are doing everything they can to silence voters ahead of the midterm elections.

I voted NO on both of these sham bills. Instead of writing blank checks for forever wars or greenlighting Trump’s cruel immigration agenda, Congress should be working tirelessly on policies that improve your health care and lower your costs. That’s what I’m fighting to do every day.
