Hello,

The plows are out. However, the RTD 10 route through Congress Park, Cheesman Park, & Cap Hill is still only listed as Priorty B.
I feel that this is an issue that needs to be addressed.

It causes delays & even crashes with the RTD 10 route from CO Blvd to Broadway, due to the conditions & crowning of the street.
To avoid this, the bus operators will often stop in the lane without pulling over to the stop. This forces riders to have to navigate the conditions themselves, which I believe to be an ADA Compliance issue.

Here is the map for reference:

Councilmember Hinds & RTD Board Member Nicholson, could you two please address this with DOTI?

I've also suggested routing the 10 from 12th Ave down to 11th to the West of Downing & Corona. I feel it will help to address the issues with the bike lanes at the same time.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Respectfully,
Bryan Wilson

Thank you for the response, Chris.

I have spoken to them & I'm asking for you & Councilman Hinds to do that as well.
I've observed a number of crashes & delays due to getting stuck along 12th Ave in Congress Park. Furthermore, I also observe bus operators stopping in the lane instead of pulling to the bus stop to prevent those issues.

I feel that this is an ADA Compliance issue.

I'm sorry for making "yet another request," but these are things that should have been addressed years ago.

The long & short of it was budget.
So, I'm asking for the difference in that budget to be allocated for by DOTI & then requested of Denver City Council.

Everyone should be able to access their bus in the winter, don't you think?

Thank you in advance for looking into this matter.

Bryan,

If you want to push for a change like this, you first need to ask DOTI why it’s Priority B.

I generally try to assume that other agencies are competent in making their own decisions and that our own staff who deal with these types of planning issues are also competent in making reasonable requests of the city.

I’m not going to undercut them on a hunch and I have too many things on my plate right now to investigate yet another request from you.

Best,

Chris

I was assured that RTD and DOTI work together on projects.

We are closing 12th Avenue at Speer to cars & identifying 12th as a neighborhood bikeway from Speer to Broadway.

We can identify 12th Avenue to the east east of Lincoln and Broadway as a neighborhood Bikeway AND get the 10 route cleared of snow and ice if we shift it from 12th down to 11th to the West of Downing and Corona.

Look how icy it is still...

I'm simply asking for somebody at DOTI & RTD to have a conversation about making this happen.

I don't understand why this is an unreasonable request and why it's getting resistance.

I personally live on this route and don't utilize it on snowy days, because it is so unreliable.

I can't imagine what it's like for riders with limited Mobility.

Thank you in advance for addressing this issue.

The 12th and 11th Avenue bike lanes are still icy.

If we shift the RTD 10 route down to 11th to the west of Downing and Corona while simultaneously elevating the 10 route to a priority A snow plow route, I believe this issue will be addressed.

Asking for RTD and DOTI to collaborate on this to make it happen.
