Dear City of,
Iran has been top of mind for all of us this week, and for good reason. The Pentagon is reportedly preparing to ask Congress for another $200 billion for Trump's illegal war. My answer is no. I won’t support a dime for this war — not while families are getting crushed by health care costs and high gas and grocery prices. We need to focus on working families, not forever wars.
In the Health Subcommittee this week, Republicans held a hearing on health care affordability — which is like watching an arsonist investigate the fire they started.
Their Big Bad Bill cut over $1 trillion from Medicaid to give billionaires tax breaks, and they refused to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits that helped millions afford health care. Now, premiums are up, families are losing coverage, and Republicans have no real solutions. In the hearing, I called out these consequences and pushed for what actually works: single-payer solutions like Medicare for All.
Last week, I hosted a telephone town hall and more than 10,000 of you joined. I answered your questions on the illegal war in Iran, immigration, keeping our elections safe from Trump’s influence, and how citizens can get involved. If you missed the town hall, you can listen here.
