Dear friend,

It’s not rocket science — I, along with my Democratic colleagues, are fighting back against the Trump administration’s corruption with commonsense solutions for affordable housing, health care, gun violence prevention, and beyond.

On affordability, Congress finally passed the bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act, a bill I voted for three times in the House. This is a generational piece of legislation that would directly benefit Denverites and will lead to more homes being built and more cost savings for home buyers.

However, after planning to make a big show of it all, Donald Trump decided not to sign the bill. Instead, he demanded that Congress first pass his disastrous voter suppression bill, the SAVE America Act, which he knows does not have the support to pass.

I will NEVER vote for the SAVE America Act that makes it harder for citizens to vote. In fact, I’ve already voted against it twice.

On reproductive freedom, this past Wednesday was the 4-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision when the Supreme Court overturned Roe and ripped health care rights away from millions of Americans.

As co-chair of the Reproductive Freedom Caucus, I stood alongside Democratic leadership and advocates to reaffirm our commitment to restoring and protecting reproductive freedom for all. That includes abortion care, birth control, and fertility care. I won’t stop fighting until every American has access to the care they need.

Also this week, Republicans hauled blue state Medicaid directors in front of the Energy & Commerce Committee’s oversight panel to investigate so-called “health care fraud.” Meanwhile, Donald Trump has pardoned his friends and donors who were convicted of fraud. I called out their double standard.

In better news, a bill I introduced, the Medicare Advantage Cost Transparency Act, passed out of the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee.

Medicare Advantage plans too often hide what care they actually pay for and what they force patients to pay out of their own pockets. This bill would shed light on the shady business practices from Medicare Advantage plans that undermine the care for seniors who rely on them. I am pushing for it to be brought to the floor for a vote.

Friends, we are not only in a battle of right or wrong — we’re fighting for common sense. As Trump, Congressional Republicans, and a hostile Supreme Court continue to implement policies and laws that are deeply unpopular, I am committed to being your voice in Washington. That means fighting for reproductive freedom, gun violence prevention, affordable housing, a just and fair immigration system, and standing up to corruption — which I will always do to the best of my ability.
