Dear friend,
On the House Floor this week, we had some success pushing back against Trump’s reckless agenda.
House Democrats and I finally passed a War Powers Resolution to rein in Trump’s illegal war in Iran. This war has cost innocent lives, roughly $100 billion, and has made life much more expensive for you and your families.
Also this week, Democrats forced a vote on providing further aid to Ukraine, and we passed it despite Republicans seeming content to let Putin’s invasion continue.
Both of these votes uprooted Speaker Johnson’s plans and showed, even with a Republican-controlled House, when Democrats show up and stick together, we get things done.
Meanwhile, early this morning, Senate Republicans jammed through their multibillion-dollar payout to ICE and CBP, which will essentially fund the agencies through the end of Trump’s term.
I am a hell no on any funding for Trump’s cruel immigration agenda and will vote against this hyper partisan bill in the House next week. ICE needs to be fully defunded and dismantled, and I won’t give up until that happens.
Times are tough right now: we’re in a foreign conflict none of us voted for, the cost of living is snowballing out of control, and the rule of law has become more of a suggestion to Trump and his allies. Because of your unyielding calls to hold Republicans in Congress and this corrupt administration accountable, we are breaking through.
Our fight is far from over, but we are making progress.
