Hey everybody, because I don't really know who all these emails reach through the magic of the internet:
Let's do it then, this saturday 4:00 at the Pink-House Studio (601 E Wright) , low-scale seed swap and garden strategy meeting. Say just for an hour and half or so, so we can get over to the Riverwest Co-op for the pasta dinner.
You dig?
Alright then, let's get the word out.
Sam
ps Sarah would you please make a facebook invite - I think you know more of these people on the email list who are on facebook, invite me and I'll spread my word, Sam Hitchcock Tilton

ahh! I just doodled that I was free next Saturday for something else!! Anyone else want to put their two cents in? I say lets do as you say Sam: a simple seed swap if we have them and a fedco order and talk about our garden plans if we want. MUG and UEC will have larger and a wider publicized seed swap. The Riverwest Coop dinner is next Sat night, we could do it at 4:00 or so and then people that want to go to the dinner could walk over together afterward. I am game for the pink house as I think kids would be easier to watch than at your place Erik. what do you think? Sam I say It is up to you if no one else puts in a vote Sam because I won't too much organizing in either way. :-) I would forward an invite email and invite people if we made a facebook invite.

I live right by the UEC at the corner of Cambridge and Kenwood, right on the side of the river. I would love to put in a big Fedco order, but then we better meet soon: Fedco runs out of seeds soon and for this reason I am sending in my order very soon. For that reason I'll go out on a limb and say what about next Tuesday at the Pink House or Erik's shop? If a weekday is bad, then next weekend. What do all you think about that? Agree or propose an alternate date I say. Or just people who want to put in an order together (and get the bulk discount) can meet sooner and do a more planned get-together later for swapping.
Tuesday evening 19th or Saturday afternoon 23rd, or propose another.
Cheers to all you guys and gals,
Sam

Good idea Erik for projects =-O =-O :-[ :-P :-( :-( :-[ :-[ :-[ , for Grenfolks we sometimes get around 15-20 people plus kids, neighborhood people stop by....some years we do a potluck too..... the nice thing about doing the PHS or UEC ( if we let go of our own and just have one big one) . As to what to swap, i like the idea of swapping seeds we have saved but i bet at this moment here is not that much of that. It would be cool to talk about it, people could think about focusing on a few kinds. Also i like the idea of doing an ordering together. I LOVE Fedco seeds and seedsavers. so a earlier get together would make sence and some one that is willing to put in the order........ Where do you live Sam?

I love the idea of helping each other with drawing up garden plans. and sharpening tools is a cool idea too. So what ever people plan, The Pink House Studio is open for use. we just don't want to clean up dirt this year! I am loose...as in what ever people have energy for sounds good to me. I just won't leave the riverwest or eastside! :-)

I've got a few ideas of things that we could do in addition to seed swapping. First, I am curious, do people swap seeds that they saved or seeds that they ordered?Things to do - build a Warre beehive, for any interested peoplebuild plywood flats to start to seeds inpeople could bring in garden tools and we could clean, sharpen and oil them, if someone knows a bit about mechanics we could tune-up rototillersNot hands on - bring garden plans (in paper or in heads) and discuss with other people
Those are my ideas for hand-on things. I am totally willing to set a date and host. Can you tell me what all hosting entails.Glad to know all of you and looking forward to a seed swap full of interesting and exciting seeds and people.

hey Sam, The greenfolks normally do a seed exchange at the pink house, I would LOVE it if someone wanted to pick a date and host it there. we could merge groups and do one. we used to also do planting of starts at this but that is messy and I told Claire last year that we wouldn't do that part again ( even though it is fun) It is nice to have something to do with your hands...... maybe we show each other tricks like like making news paper starte pots. other ideas?
