Hi All,

Last fall I made a bulk order of 130 hazel nuts all of which were planted in Milwaukee adding to our wonderful urban ag movement.

This spring If you join the arbor day foundation hazel nut project you get 3 free hazel nuts.  They are not currently offering them in bulk because of this program. http://www.arborday.org/shopping/memberships/hazelnut/index.cfm

I am wondering if anyone wants to help take over this great action of promoting Hazelnuts in the city.  It really is easy and fun, hazel nuts are great to talk about... They would be great to bring to tables to sell.....
If anyone one is interested in helping contact me!

This is some basic info on the hazel nuts we ordered:
They are a great source of protein and fat, native to Wisconsin. ( although what we get is a mix of American and European)
They are shrubs, not trees. They will eventually reach a size similar to a
lilac bush.
They can be managed in much the same way as a lilac by
removing the largest, oldest stems every 3 or so years, OR the whole
entire plant can be cut to the ground (coppiced) once every ten years or
so. It will sprout back quite vigorously. They are a great source of protein that can be grown in the City!

this is the bulk order site but they are not offering right now but may later in the spring
