Fire hydrant access in Milw. to end after 2010?

Hi folks,

We are now in line to get hydrant access at the Hide House Community Garden. While that's good, I want to find where it is written that, save for a small fleet of "grandfathered" community gardens, rental (public access) of City of Milwaukee fire hydrants will end after 2010. I heard the Acting Fire Chief say as much at a public hearing. The following questions are related to that:

- Who made this decision, and why?
- Will the Hide House Garden be grandfathered in?
- What can be done to keep hydrant access available for future community gardens?
