In the April
timeframe the city was to make public the next step in the Transportation Master
Plan update, which was to publish the list of new road and transit projects that
would be needed by 2031.
That list has not
been provided yet, however this week they did publish a view on what would be
guiding the analysis/decision making that would be used to create that list
(population and employment projections, cycling & transit mode share
targets, etc)
Most notably from a
CCC perspective, and extracted below is information related to the AVTC
(Altavista Transportation Corridor). In the 1st table there is a list
of the road projects committed for implementation since 2008. Even though
the AVC phase 1 was committed in the 2012 budget it is absent from the
list.
Then in the next table, is a list of road
projects that will be under review as part of this TMP update and the AVC is
included in that list.
Perhaps a glimmer of
hope that the City is reconsidering the cost/benefits of this project and that
our efforts at opposing this road may be yielding some
results.

Factor #5: Transit and road infrastructure under review
The
TMP update will be examining all road and transit needs to accommodate projected
growth to 2031. In addition, City Council has directed the TMP update
process to carry out more focused analyses for several specific pieces of
transit and road infrastructure where conditions or needs may have changed since
the 2008 TMP.
