Backstory:
"What do you mean, gone?" asked Bayen.
"I have no idea," replied Jake Brighteye, the second-in-command of his Skyrin scouting squad. "I was up around Spartistan to see what the hubbub was with all these army deployments (Azi was in Furfein Tosha), and I couldn't find anything outside Brotherhood."
"And inside Brotherhood?" inquired Bayen.
"It was blacked out, smoke," clarified Jake. "We couldn't see anything. No thermals either - the smoke was heated, from huge fires all over the cities."
"I want you to take your entire half of the squad there. Take all the usual precautions; get help from Kane's group if you need to. Invisibility, silence, and prepare for instantaneous teleportation back here if anything goes wrong. Keep a constant uplink with me with your Amulets of Communication."
"Yes, sir. Over and out." Jake's face disappeared from the crystal Bayen had been talking to him through. This would be interesting.
Jake and his group crawled stealthily into the Brotherhood cities. There were only four of them - small white squirrels; except they were invisible right now, and inaudible, since the spells on them dampened any sound that left the imagined bubbles wrapped tightly around each of them.
"Alright, guys," said Jake softly, trusting the spell to keep anything around from overhearing. "Bayen wants us to find out what the heck is going on in there. Let's keep together, but not too close. We'll spread out as we get inside, then rendezvous back here to report to Bayen, got it? And don't forget to keep talking through your Amulets... constant information is good."
"Affirmative, sir," said one of the Skyrin softly. This was his first real mission where there was actual danger. He had worked in plenty of illusionary settings before, but nothing had prepared him for something so actual as this. Steeling himself, he slowly crept forward along with the rest of the group.
Bayen? transmitted Jake mentally through his Amulet. We're in...
Summary: A group of four Skyrin scouts sent into Brotherhood with all due precautions (invisibility, magical silence, constant mental uplink, preparation for teleportational exit, etc) to find out what is going on. Information is their main goal, second only to survival. They don't want to blow up anything.
(Atticus, could you maybe post what they see? Or if there's any unforeseen attacks on them? :P )
