The Malfactor Returns....

**************************

So, the DNA hadn't matched...

Those present were dumbfounded not demonic? And for that matter, not even human? What could these vicious creatures have been?  That is if they were creatures at all... These questions plagued all those investigating the disappearing of their queen.

As they pondered over the crime seen, a shriek could be heard in another part of the palace, followed by a number of small explosions.

Prodigy shouted, "THE PALACE IS UNDER ATTACK!"

He tapped his communicator and contacted the nearest guardpost.

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" HE inquired angrily.

The guard replied, "Not sure sir, seemed to origninate from below the palace."

"Whaddya mean under the palace?" Prodigy asked.

"Seems to be the basements...  Oh wait, hold on, I need to confirm this, I'll be right back." replied the guard nervously.

Prodigy announced to the group, "Apparently the explosions came from the basement of the palace, then the guard just left the line, it sounded like he had stumbled on something big, I'm awaiting confirmation."

Prodigy's communicator crackled to life once more, "Sir, we have a problem, a big big problem"

Prodigy reverted to his military commander persona, "What is it soldier?"

The guard replied, "Multiple contacts flooding up through the basement.  According to the few confirmed visuals of them, they appear to be demons."

Everyone turned to Lucifer, who stood defiantly, "They weren't mine before, they sure as hell aren't mine now."  Nobody had time to argue with him, for they all had begun to take off in the direction of the basements.

Upon arriving, they found multiple guards posted at the door.

"Sir, we fought them back into the basement, but they are setting up a base down there, and we can't even open this door without getting blasted by hostile fire.  We need to stop them, because if they are able to set up a post down there, the palace will cease to be a secure location for us to coordinate a search for the queen."  explained the head security guard.

Lucifer then said, "Wait a minute, these aren't demons.  Think about it, why didn't they blast the guards with magic?  Why were the guards able to fight them back into the basement?"

Bayen interjected, "Thats what me thinks, but, right now, it doesn't matter, we need to get them out.

Another explosion was heard from below.

"If we don't do something quick, the whole palace will become unstable!" exclaimed Gerk.

"I've got an idea." Prodigy snapped his fingers, and four of Prodigy's
followers - Kale, Astoris, Arriana, and Samwise - popped out of the
crates and barrels the palace guards had used to build a make-shift
barricade. The guards, startled, raised their weapons and stumbled
back in surprise.

"Steady on," Kale told them as he pulled his leg out of the box marked
"CAUTION: EXLPOSIVE".

"How long have you been in there?" asked Gerk. "You could've helped
the guards fight off the demon impostors."

"We did," replied Samwise. "They just didn't know it." The guards
exchanged a look as Korstokk and the others - Tahnemal, Delia, and
Hiro - walked into the room, armored up and garbed for balls-to-the-
wall combat. Prodigy explained.

"You four," he started, pointing at the heavily-armored followers,
"will take point and bust in, guns blazing, as a distraction so we can
get a good look at what we're fighting. Anyone who wishes to join them
may do so. Meanwhile, Kale and Samwise, you kidnap one of those 'what
we're fighting's, and bring him back here for a closer inspection. You
can pull that off, right?"

Kale just gave Prodigy a look and pulled up his facemask. He and his
fellow Kensai promptly disappeared with a few mumbled incantations.

Korstokk drew his great black sword from his back with a vicious grin.
"Start the distraction now?"

Prodigy nodded. The four distractions turned toward the door put their
enclosed helmets on. As one, Korstokk and Hiro kicked the door in and
pushed into the room. Plan in motion.

And then the Secret Malefactor was prepared...

****************************

Just as their feet made contact with the door, a tremendous explosion blasted outward, effectively disabling them temporarily.  The Demons rushed out, and engaged all there.  A small humming could be heard throughout the entire engagement.

When the dust settled, Prodigy, Lucifer, and North were gone.

Lucifer's plan had worked. They had laughed at them they had, but
now, he was triumphant. All over Toketi, a pamphlet began to appear,
proclaiming his triumph. The pamplet read simply...

"The Tyrannical Monarchy is NO MORE!"
"Rise up and take your rightful place in this world people of Toketi.
The following Constitution is hearby instated, and will henceforth be
the law of the land."

Inside the pamphlet was a constitution outlining the new government of
Toketi.

Lucifer's voice could be heard all through the land... "All those who
oppose shall be crushed. The new Toketi is at hand! I fully intend
to release the monarchy unharmed to you all, but under the new
government, they shall hold no power whatsoever. They may only hold
your memories and respect. And a warning to those who would oppose, I
still am in control, since an attack on me signs the death sentence of
your unfortunate monarchy. If this happens, there ceases to be a
government, and Toketi plunges into Anarchic turmoil only to have my
government reign supreme."

There is a brief pause where the Toketi national anthem plays...

After the completion of the anthem, jets scream over every city,
proclaiming the victory of Lucifer.

Then, a booming voice can be heard, narrating the entire Charter for
the Reformed Peoples Government of Toketi...

This could clear some things up.

*********************

About an hour after the disappearance of Lucifer, North, and Prodigy, Bayen felt his mind being contacted by Jake.  <You'd better check the internet...> Jake said.  <Something big is circulating.  I'm sure it's on one of your feeds.>

<Alright,> said Bayen, pulling out his mobile phone.  It was off.  Strange...  He tried to turn it back on.  No good.  With growing suspicion, he checked his watch.  It was stuck at an impossible time, the hour and minute and second hands all pointing at the 6, and it wasn't ticking.

Twirling into a puff of smoke, Bayen teleported back outside the Palace and rushed in, heading downstairs.  Sure enough, the dials on his watch started to move.  They were metal - magnetic.

He checked the generators in the basement, and sure enough, someone had hooked up three huge electromagnets to them.  That explained how they had incapacitated Prodigy - while the Durium that composed his armored shell wasn't magnetic, the precision computers inside to handle brian-to-machine transfers, the silicon artificial neurons, the microchips - they were all suceptible.  They could resist an EMP, but not a full-on, constant electromagnetic field.

North and Lucifer were still mysteries...

<So it was Lucifer who orchestrated it by the way,> said Jake mentally.

<Oh,> said Bayen.  Well, Lucifer accounted for.  He'd see if he could find North...  He tried a mental contact, and...

The kidnapping was rather well done, I thought... although i did reject several more godmode-ish attempts before this one.

Prodigy looked around the dark room. He looked at the cords binding
him. He looked around the dark. He could see in the dark. Did they not
know that?

He closed his eyes and focused. It didn't take long. The bladed durium
wings sprouted from his back, and weapons emerged from improbable
places. With a loud humming noise, the chamber containing Prodigy
exploded in a whirlwind of shrapnel.

The Machine Spirit opened its glowing eyes. "Threat: It's bullet rape
time."

(OOC: I hope you remembered that it's like, completely impossible to
contain me for very long, right?)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Lucifer proclaimed his new constitution. You know who didn't like it?
A lot of people.
A lot.
Prodigy's followers had congregated back at Silverfang Outpost. Kale
and Korstokk, on top of the enormous fortress, were now in charge of
the whole of Prodigy's army. The wounded had had time to heal, and
damaged vehicles had been repaired. It wasn't as strong as before the
Battle of Breath-Hold, but dammit, they were Chelkran.
Korstokk roared a wordless challenge to the sky. Kale shouted over
him, an impossible feat. "The insolent think they can simply depose
the monarchy! The time has come to forcibly put them back in their
place!" The crowd of soldiers cheered as Kale continued. "Today, we
march to war again!"
SUMMARY: I break out. Find a scenario I WOULDN'T be able to break out
of.
Also, it's time for open war.
Unfortunately, the one situation you wouldn't be able to escape from is the one Lucifer gave me.  You're suspende in a dark room WITH a constant electromagnet hooked up to the generators at BONE, basically a sedation thing for a cyborg.  No chance to wake up and break out.  :(
However, you can, of course, still use your OrBat, commanded by your followers, to slaughter Lucifer or something.  ;)
Easy rebuttal: the more impure Durium is, the more magnetic it is.
However, I myself am made of Grade A durium, near 100% purity. And
Durium, as a metal, has been stated as non-magnetic.
actually, from what i've determined, an EM pulse is no different than a continued Electromagnetic stream.  if he's shielded against the one, he's shielded against the other.  just because it's constant doesn't mean that any more of it will penetrate.  at worst, he will feel the effects, and be able to get out in time, OR detect the magnetism (he IS a cyborg), and get out before it has any adverse effects.
The magnets were electromagnets, hooked up after they were sure he was in range.  Lucifer was specific.
And EMP shielding involves separating systems with rubber and other insulators.  What this does is not make the machine immune to EMP, it makes it possible to reboot and possibly save some of the data and programs, etc.  Under a constant magnetic field, though, there will be no chance to reboot.
And Prodigy, I think I already went over this:  "That explained how they had incapacitated Prodigy - ****while the Durium that composed his armored shell wasn't magnetic, the precision computers inside to handle brian-to-machine transfers, the silicon artificial neurons, the microchips - they were all suceptible.****  They could resist an EMP, but not a full-on, constant electromagnetic field."
I'm not careless, I made your exact arguments to Lucifer.  He just adjusted his plans to cover everything...
Andreas stood outside BONE, alone, but carrying his staff. He stood
some way back from the moat, to avoid the stench of the blood. "I
would have words with you, nothing more. I promise this is not an
attempt to rescue your prisoners while you are distracted, on my
honour as a Lord. I would have words with you and you alone, without
your guards to possibly commit treachery. Whether you come down to
me, or stay up in your tower with your wards, is up to you - merely
choose whether you want this conversation public or private. But I
would have you without your guards, for you have committed treason
once already today, and I would rather not risk you doing so again."
The smoke and dust was all so confusing.
Luna coughed and staggered backwards, covering her eyes. She summoned
her magic and shot a quick gust of air and cleared the congested air
from in front of her, clearing her vision. The sounds of combat, as
quickly as it had erupted around her, had settled to nothing.
Soldiers looked around in suprise, as Prodigy, North, and Lucifer were
all gone.
Luna was alone.
"Ummm..." she said, entirely unsure of what to do next.
"QUICK!! ALL UNITS FAN OUT! SECURE THE AREA!!!" The soldiers ignored
her and began bustling about, shouting orders and giving commands.
Luna still stood, bewildered. She sighed and gave a half-hearted twirl
and dissapeared from the now-dust covered battle-room.
--------------------------
"Ohhhhh..." She said, throwing off her dustly cloak, the shiny gloss
it had once held was now replaced by a thick layer of dust.
"What on Micras is going on!!!" She summoned some water and
whirlpooled it around herself. The water was cool and refreshing, and
felt good on her, revitalizing her. The dust came off her easily, and
her skin became moist once more. Refreshed, she sent the water to the
sink, where it gurgled down the drain.
She sighed and jumped over the back of the couch. Sliding into a
comftorable position, she grabbed the remote and was about to turn the
TV on when she felt a hand touch her shoulder.
"Is everything OK, Mistress?" Said a kind, but firm voice.
Luna practically jumped out of her robes.
"Oh its just you, Diamond..." She said, breathing easy. She turned and
saw her followers, Her Aces, Spade, Clubs, Hearts, and trusty Diamond
standing about the room.
"As soon as we had heard about what happend, we came right away. You
really should of had us with you, My Lady." Diamond said, gently.
"Oh I know..." She said, softly "Im just so scared. It seems like
everyone is gone. Im so confused by whats going on right now. Its like
the entire government just collapsed!"
"Its ok." Said Diamond "Were here to protect you."
Luna Smiled "Thanks guys. Now, i need to see whos left, and figure out
exactly whats been going on..."
She flipped on the TV....(there i see Lucifers announcement and stuff)
-------------------------
After watching the TV for several hours, Luna finally had a grasp on
what was happening. A movment had taken hold of the nation. Lucifer
was now in charge.
"I dunnoo!!!!!!" She cried in frustration. She stomped into the
kitchen and grabbed a crystaline glass of water, and began sipping at
it.
"All right, I need to start contacting people..." With that, Luna
began reaching out, attempting to contact anyone. The first she tried,
was Bayen and Andreas, Then the nobles, then anyone else.
“In the end,” Andreas began, “it all comes down to ... blood.
Firstly, of course, the matter of Tokish blood. The Monarchy is one
of the least monarchical monarchy’s you could pick. They seem far
more eager to adopt adept people into their family than actually
follow the royal blood. So I hardly see your point that the royal
family is inherently useless as a concept. Besides, they are of the
blood of St Nova, originally.
Secondly, there is the matter of one of the old monarchs, Corey.
There is bad blood between us, unfortunately, and everytime I think I
have solved the matter, it flares up again.
Thirdly, there is this ... your bloody moat and this bloodstained
academy. You expect people to support a terrorist necromancer in
pursing the path to freedom?
Finally, the land itself cries out. You have risked bloodshed before,
and again you risk it. You sit in the living heart of a dead land,
and you have done nothing but kill it. All of Doshtan Yokutar stands
as desert except for the fertile regions around Barax, and it is there
you place your centre of death and destruction. The land cries for
life, not death and bloodshed.
But considering all that, I am still giving you a gift – perhaps the
greatest gift any mortal can receive. I am giving you the chance to
choose your own fate. I will ask you a series of questions, and your
response will determine the fate of what occurs from here.
If you were in charge at the time of my coronation, what would you
have done regarding Toketi and Gralus?
What are your plans for the economy?
How can we know that, if your plan succeeds, you will not later rise
up and attempt to seize power again?
And finally ... as I have said, you sit in the living heart of a dead
land, and are killing it. I would have a fringe of that land to make
into a living garden – along the river, extending past the borders of
Illumo Corealis. I know that it is not the power of regent to grant
that request. It is the power of a Duke, though. Think of it as
granting MANA the rights you would grant one of your vassals, like
Roman, over a single town. But I ask not even a town. I ask merely a
strip of desert, that we could make into a wonderous garden paradise.
So ... what say you?”
Lucifer stood calmly, listening to Andreas's questions.
Lucifer stated, "First off, I'd like to point out that I have spilt no
blood over the rise of the new government. That should count for
something, I could've killed the monarchs, but I refrained from doing
so. Now to your questions, although my knowledge of Gralus is
limited, I would've done what was best for my country. If withdrawing
from Gralus was truly the best decision, then thats the decision that
would have been made. But, I'm not truly qualified to make the
decision if it was truly in the best interest of the country since I
do not know all the details of what happened, everything was very
vague. The economy? Well I would like to continue using a form of
CITRA at this juncture, but I'm pretty sure there needs to be some
tweaks to its charter, some way to give incentive to start a business
and incentive to invest in others businesses, possible a stockmarket
of some kind. How do you know I won't rise up again? Well, there
really is no guarantee that I can make that any of you will believe,
you'll just have to trust my word. Either way, I am Lord Regent for
the time being. And, if it keeps my relation with you friendly, you
may have the little strip of land you covet. Anything else?"
interest at heart. You are wise enough to speak the truth, and not
just what you think I want to hear ... but also not so foolish as to
hold onto every scrap of your own power when it would lose your
country far more. I still do not approve of your choice of means, but
I'm beginning to approve of your ends ... and may have need of your
cunning in the end times. MANA will not interfere - I will leave you
to continue your revolution, and I suspect only we had enough mages to
have a hope of freeing the monarchs without you having a chance to
kill them. When things are less ... tumultuous ... you are invited to
the Garden," he finished, with a wink.
He began to walk away, then turned back, for a moment.
"But if you ever try something like this in my lands, I shall
personally ensure you are banished to the Seven Hells until you have
fully atoned for your folly, and will probably raise BONE into the
Actually, I know you to be very treacherous when it comes to certain
things... You may not be the person carrying out the deed, but you
often try to order it done or arrange it, Im not stupid...
Gerk might have had no ill intentions, but if Lucifer goes anywhere by himself after kidnapping two monarchs, well, there's a host of people who would pounce at the chance.  You'd know that, Gerk.  :P
People find these things out surprisingly often, you know.  ;)
Prodigy Almighty
Prodigy shook his head. He was still mad. But at least Lucifer had
leveled out. That at least let Prodigy contain the fire of his
irrational anger. Holstering the pistol in his abdomen, the cyborg
walked up the stairs from the basement. Time to hitch a ride back to
Silverfang and see how Kale and Korstokk had been the past few days.
~~~~~

It's not usually a good thing when you come back from being kidnapped
and find your entire army being mobilized for war. Prodigy smacked his
gob as he saw the Chelkranian soldiers loading up the Behemoths with
tanks, skimmers, and soldiers from the back of his dragon. Eisdrache
alighted smoothly next to the flagship Behemoth, Arcturus, as
Kale and Korstokk came rushing over.

"Sir, are you alright?" "Thank god you're safe!" "C'mon, you're just
in time!" "We're gonna go crack some skulls!"

Prodigy held up his hands, teeth clenched. "For fuck's sakes, guys!
We're working on a constitution, not a war!"

The two generals stopped chattering and looked at each other, then
back at Prodigy. They both gave him odd looks. Kale spoke slowly,
almost like Prodigy was a small child. "Sir, are you feeling okay?"

"Yeah, look, I'm fine," he said. "Aside from a bruised pride and a new
project to make me even more indestructible, I feel great. So uh,
what's all this?"

"We heard you were being held by Lucifer at BONE," Korstokk growled.
"We were mobilizing to come save you and kick some ass."

"Korstokk, you have a lot to learn about subtlety," Prodigy chided
him. "Not only are we at maybe 70% strength right now after Breath-
Hold -- and let me remind you we had the advantage there -- but BONE
is really, really secure."

The two generals scuffed the ground with their boots in a childish
fashion. Kale gave his commander puppy eyes. "I'm sorry, sir. I didn't
think it through much, I just tried to do what you would do."

"I'll try to take that as a compliment. Thank you, Kale."

SUMMARY: No war.
