Hi All,

Time for Volleyball !!

We had a great tournament first quarter of this year (in March 2014), again we are planning to organize "Tallahassee Volley Ball Tournament, Fall 2014 - Sponsored by Workflow Tech" (on September 20th and 21st weekend) before that we would like to know how many teams would like to participate in the Tournament so that we can plan accordingly.

 

If we have the teams listed here we will be sending out the Tournament rules/fees in the coming days. I would really appreciate everybody who ever is the Captain of the team mention the team name and contact details in the email.

Main Intention of the tournament is to bring Desi/Asian people together who are interested in playing Volleyball.we would recommend to have team members to be Asian(Desi) ethnic background. Each team would need to have atleast 4 playing members and maximum of 7 members.

Please confirm your entry ASAP latest by Sep 12th 2014.

Looking at the time factor to organize the tournament in a weekend, we are planning to cut down the teams to 10.

The 'Tallahassee Volley Ball Tournament, Fall 2014 - Sponsored by Workflow Tech' is all set to roll as planned on Sep 20th and 21st. We have Winner, Runner up,3rd place trophies, medals for winners and runners, participation cup for all teams and MVP cup for one in Finals (Organizers/Umpires will pick). Water, Gatorade will be provided.

Match fee for this tournament is 20$/each team. You can give check or cash on game day to me or Praveen.

Please find attached rules document which also contains pool details and schedule. If you have any concerns please let us know.

4 teams haven't updated their team list, please do it ASAP. We will be restrict the edit access to the teams on Sep 16th 2014.

Quick reminder for this weekend Volleyball tournament:

Hope you all aware of your schedule and good with that. We are going to play in all 4 courts that means all teams to be there by 7:30 AM so we can stick to the original schedule with out delays.

We provide water and Gatorade.

Few key points below:

• Each team will be playing with 4 players in the court with 2-3 extra players. They can bench players anytime they want but before or after the serve.

• Total 4 pools each pool having 3 teams.

• Each team will be playing 2 total games in the league stage, one game against every other team in the Pool. The top 2 in Pool A, B, C and D will be playing knockouts (Quarter finals) follows semis and finals. Total ( 19 matches)

• First serve will be determined by a coin flip. The team winning the coin flip may choose to serve first or may choose their side.

• For every set a team can use Two x 2 min time outs 

• All league games will be played for 15points. If either of the team has 7 points with Zero points for opposition, the team with 7 Points wins the game. We don’t have a point for Service break. If the game is at game point (For Ex: 14-13) and the opposition gets point the score goes back to 13-13.

• All match consists of 3 sets for 15 points, the best 2 out of 3 sets wins the match, Semi’s consists of 3 sets of 15 points and Final’s will consist of 3 sets for 15 points, the best 2 out of 3 sets wins the match.

Captain’s responsibility:

• Be on time with the entire team for the game.

• Any team is more than 15 mins late for a game may have to forfeit the game.

• Keep control of team in high stress situations.

• No new players allowed to be played in any team after tournament begins.

• Please bring your own ball for practice.

Service and Game:

• A serve that hits the net and remains in play (a let) will be considered a legal serve. Blocking the serve at the net is a violation and a point is awarded to the serving team. 

• Teams will change sides after each game.

• A player may not touch the net with any part of the body while the ball is in play.

• Re-serve might happen when there is any un-expected disturbance (Kids, ball, injury) during the game play.

• A block is not considered as a hit. The blocker may participate in the next contact.

• The receiving team will not be allowed to block a serve.

• Fingering is allowed at receive of serve.

• No limitations on serves, a serve may be underhand, overhand or a jump serve. A fault occurs when the ball is not served within the boundaries of the opposing team’s side or the server steps on, over or under the line before serving. If a fault occurs, a point is awarded to the opposing team. 

• Rotation is the team’s preference, if opted for “no rotation”; serve needs to rotate between two or more persons.

• Ball must be clearly visible to opponents before serve and should be served from the corners of the court.

Please identify referee's from each team ahead.

Hi All,

Firehawks and Chargers teams successfully conducted Volleyball Tournament in Tallahassee on Sep 20th and 21st 2014. There was lot of energy and enthusiasm among the players and it was very competitive. 12 teams participated, Firehawks and Chargers reached to the finals. Firehawks won the trophy after the fierce competition from Chargers.

Third place won by 6 Pack team. Congratulations to all the winners.

 

Krishna Murthy garu presented the trophies to the winners.

Of course, our entertaining tournament would not be possible without the kind support of the sponsor: Workflow Technologies Inc. On behalf of all our teams i would like to appreciate you very much.

Special thanks to organizers and volunteers Rajesh Nuthi, Sai P, Karthik, Praveen, Naresh, Arjun Manchikanti, lakshman, Krishna Gaddam, Anjan, Sai Reddy, Gowtham, Krishna Nemilikonda, Santosh and Aditya G(For wonderful pics).

Lastly, I would like to thank all the players for giving their best performances while upholding the spirit of Great Sport. I am sure the players will take a lot of positives from this tournament. Curtains may have come down on "Tallahassee Volley Ball Tournament, Fall 2014", but the memories left behind will stay with us.
