Hi everyone—After years of waiting, we’re now in the final weeks of getting revised oil and gas regulations (Chapter 78 and 78a) on the books. That is, if certain legislators and industry don’t derail the process. See a statement from several groups today at http://bit.ly/1SJTN3y  You can read all about it at http://bit.ly/1StdOLh

The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy (ERE) Committee is meeting Tuesday morning, and they will introduce a resolution to stop the regulations from moving ahead. Please take a few minutes to tell committee leaders that they need to stop putting industry’s interests above even these moderate protections for health and the environment! The House could follow soon with similar action.

Here’s sample email and Tweets. Or call your Senators or Representatives directly; you can see who’s on the Senate ERE Committee at http://environmental.pasenategop.com/  Thanks!

You can send this sample email with the subject line “Don’t stop oil and gas regulations!”

I’m alarmed to hear about last-minute efforts by members of the General Assembly, as well as representatives of the oil and gas industry, to derail the adoption of revised regulations (Chapter 78 and 78a). I ask that you, as a member of the Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, vote NO on a resolution or any other measure that comes before you to delay the adoption of regulations for both conventional and unconventional operators. Doing so would maintain the status quo of weak regulations, which support oil and gas operations that harm water, air, and health. This might be in the industry’s interest but most certainly is not in the public interest—please do your job and let Chapter 78 and 78a be adopted.

Send the email to all House and Senate ERE Committee Members:
