Dear Residents:

Here is the body of an e-mail I just received from Supervisor Paul Sausville.  Please note the dates and times.  Please also note his response to my inquiry about the Mackay "number crunching" exercise.  Finally:  please note the additional meeting scheduled to discuss the DOT plans and prospects for dead-ending Maltaville Road.

Chris, this follows up on your Friday inquiry.

Aug. 20, 6 PM Jordan Meeting --Roseanne is scheduling a meeting room for the Maltaville meeting with Assemblyman Jordan and will get back to you when confirmed.  We will email a meeting notice to everyone on our e-mail list, the TB and press.  Please email the notice to neighbors, as your list may differ.

Aug. 24 DOT Meeting On RL Gateway --A meeting to discuss plans for the reconstruction of the Route 9 entrance to RL is being planned by DOT  for August 24.  Dead ending Maltaville Rd. @ Route 9 will be reviewed.  This meeting will be firmed up today or tomorrow.  We will email a meeting notice to everyone on our list, the TB and press.  Please email the notice to neighbors, as your list may differ.

Water Infrastructure Update -- Alex Mackay (SWS) is still crunching the numbers.  We have sent him the resolution from the Saratoga Co. Water Authority which clears the way for him to tap the Co. water line should this be to the advantage of the Maltaville users.

Paul

Paul J. Sausville, Supervisor
Town Of Malta
2540 Route 9
Malta, New York 12020

After a summer lull, things are beginning to percolate to the top again.  Time to saddle-up and get motivated again.  It is important to keep up the level of interest and advocacy -- without, I will add, being strident.  We have made remarkable progress in a relatively short period of time thanks, in no small measure, to the positive and cooperative attitude we and the Town of Malta Board have demonstrated. Let's keep it up.

More details as they develop.

One of my neighbors said some political figure was stopping by residents
houses around the Maltaville area on Saturday saying they were looking
into dead ending the 67 end of Maltaville road. They did not stop at my
house even though I was outside and saw them drive by a few times. Does
anyone know who it was and can shed some light on this for me as I am
all for it? Thanks,
Dan

Dan:

We have known since last Spring that DOT is pretty much assuming that maltaville Road will be capped, but we have not been favored with a "final" determination of whether it will be at the Rte. 67 end, or at the Rte. 9 end.  Presumably, the reasoning for doing so is to discourage -- if not completely foreclose -- the option for "short-cutters" seeking to avoid the roundabouts by screaming through Maltaville.  (This, not incidentally, is also why Old State Road is being dead-ended at the east end, with chunks of our and Fran Bain's land being taken, in the process.)  While there are drawbacks to both plans, the plusses seem to outweigh the drawbacks, at least at first blush.

Not sure who the "official" was that was trolling for input, since these matters are probably more in the DOT/County/Town realm, and are pretty well along.  That is, it's a bit late in the day for informal head-counting, so I'd be surprised if "political" can-banging will have much impact, absent a significant groundswell, one way or the other.

I hope this answers your question.  Clearly, you will want to put the upcoming meetings in your calendar so that you can get more information and voice your views.

Let me know if you require anything further.
