Local groups sue SANDAG over RTP 2050 transit plan

I just received this communication from Sara Honadle, Board Member of Cleveland National Forest Foundation.

Transit enthusiasts –

 

Thank you for engaging in dialogue regarding transportation in San Diego over the past year. As many of you know, last month SANDAG moved forward with a plan to widen I-5 (among other freeway investments) and ultimately defer significant investment in transit infrastructure for over 20 years.

 

Today was the last day to litigate that decision, and the Cleveland National Forest Foundation (CNFF) and Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) filed a joint petition under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

 

We anticipate SANDAG will do everything in their power to make this litigation extremely costly, though our goal will be to engage in settlement discussions to obtain greater transit investment earlier, lowered greenhouse gas emissions, and decreased freeways infrastructure funding.
