Hello Friends -
I am writing because our Public Hearing on our proposed zoning law - written by David Slottje - will be on March 9 at 7:00 in the Town Hall 8903 Route 237 Stafford, NY 14143
David Slottje has stated that he is planning to be at the Hearing.

Here is an update of what has been going on in the town of Stafford;
1. Our 2nd Moratorium will end on March 16

2. David Slottje has updated our zoning laws to protect the town

3. The Genesee Co Planning Board voted to approve the proposed law

4. A local trucking contractor (who operates in the Greater Rochester area - Monroe, Livingston,    Wyoming Counties as well as PA. Ohio etc) opposes these zoning changes and has asked the TB not to approve them

5. The Town Board held a workshop in conjunction with the Town Planning last Sat to clarify and answer any questions about the proposed law.  David Slottje was present at the workshop.

6. At this workshop the concern was stated by the Town Supervisor that this law would impact the Local Contractor's sewage sludge business.  David Slottje said that specific language would be added to the law to protect the Contractor (in this specifically stated business).

7. Last night we attended the Town Planning Board meeting.  They voted to recommend the proposed law.  However - the town Supervisor was there and appeared very upset, angry etc. He stated that this fight was not over yet. There would be a SURPRISE at the Public Hearing - information that no one else knows. The contractor will be at the public hearing and will have help. Although the Supervisor did not mention any other concerns at last Saturday's workshop he now says that there are MANY other concerns and that this law if " MUCH TOO TIGHT".

8. Our thinking is that the Contractor will threaten to sue the Town for "Taking" his business. (This may cause him to reveal exactly what his business entails.)

9. We need people to come to the Public Hearing.  It will support our proposed law AND it may provide valuable information as to the "dumping and spreading " that we know is going on in NYS and how to fight them.

Thank you so much for all that you do!!!!

Vicky Southall
