Join us for a workshop on creating peer-designed, peer-led citizen circles to hone your knowledge and skills for social innovation

Participants are invited to actually launch their courses to the world through the new School of Social Innovation on Peer-to-Peer University

MONDAY, January 10th

1:00 - 3:00 PM

CIDE Smart Room, 7-105.
OISE, 252 Bloor St W. map

In the Fall of 2010, passionate people like you from seven different countries formed face-to-face learning groups called citizen circles to tackle problems in their local education system and sharpen their skills for social innovation.  Even though they were working in their local context, they were sharing their work and ideas with like-minded peers from around the world on P2PU.  Based on the success of that model, more courses are now being planned and launched for this semester, including ones on Women as Social Innovators, Conflict Resolution, Creativity as a Vehicle for Social Innovation, Open Government, and a Sustainability Studio.

Please come to learn more about these courses or to learn how you could launch your own.  We will first present some history and background of our simple but powerful method of combing in-person study groups working on actual projects in their communities with global online study groups on P2PU.  I will start with a brief presentation and discussion (<15 min) on some inspiring historical models for our work and background of our partners, such as AshokaU and P2PU.  After that brief start, we invite all who is interested to stay for an interactive workshop to rapidly prototype their own ideas for new courses until 3:00pm- from real (e.g. “Sustainability in the Home”) to make-believe (e.g. "creative uses of flying carpet technology to solve 21st century social problems").

There is no pressure to join or start a course, but if you have ever dreamed of taking a course your university didn't offer, or ever wished that your dinner club had a social impact, come and find out how it could!

RSVPs are appreciated - contact Alan Webb at Alan...@gmail.com.
