Lift in Gaddiannaram Muncipal office Repaired

Few weeks back,Our CHC co-ordinator Smt Sumathi garu went to the gaddiannaram municipal office to apply for the LRS scheme (Layout regularization scheme) for her own house. The municipal office was on the fourth floor of the building and the lift was not working. We are glad that she is fit enough to climb four floors even at this age, but there are other old folks who found it very difficult to climb four floors to get their day-to-day work done at the muncipal office like paying taxes, permissions for construction of houses/1,2,3,4 floors, water/electricity connections etc,.

Sumathi garu couldn't see the plight of the old people coming there and complained to the muncipal authorites about the lift. She came down upon heavily on the officials that the office is run by the taxes they collect from citizens and its their responsibility to provide basic facilities in the premises. She told them that each day lakhs of transactions are done in the form of some tenders/contracts or the other and repairing a lift is just peanuts. She informed them that the matter will be taken to higher authorities if the issue is not resolved. To our surprise we found that the lift was repaired within 3,4 days.

It didnt take any recommendation from a corporator or MLA, its just THE POWER OF QUESTIONING THE AUTHORITIES.

We just want to tell that we are habituated to compromise with our grievances, but unless we raise our voice against injustice, nobody cares for our whining."
