Dear Friends,
CAF & CIVIC would hold:
A Press meet to present the Citizens'
Budget for BBMP at 10.30 AM on 30th March, Friday, at Ashirwad, Arruppe
Hall, 1st Floor. Off St. Mark's Road, Bangalore 560001.
This a unique event. No where in our country have citizens presented a budget for any Govt body.
We are doing so in order to try and force the Govt not to impose further burdens on the people of our City, by way of taxes and other levies for grandiose schemes that would benefit some powerful lobbies.
Please
participate. It is your active participation and support that would make the Govt wake up, sit and take notice. As you are aware from this mornings news papers, the Govt is planning to issue bonds to meet the cost of their schemes. They are contradicting themselves, since in the "means of finance" paragraphs they submitted to GOI for getting the JN-NURM money, they said that they don't need to borrow. Now they say that they need funds through bond issue. They will then increases taxes and make us pay to meet the interest on the bonds!
Lets unite to stop this squandering of people's money.
CAF would not stop by merely airing these issues in public. We shall use every constitutional means available to us to make the Govt do what is right.
Already we are planning to file PILs requesting the High Court to issue directions to the Govt on certain other issues. If the CAF Community could meet on 5 Apr, we may discuss this and other matters.
Regards,
Mathew
