Dear Friends,

I have added a lot more explanatory notes on the sources of funding since there were a few queries on these. I thank those who have taken keen interest in this activity.

May request all of you to kindly give your comments and suggestions. This would be of great value and would demonstrate to the Govt that the citizens of this City are concerned and prepared to take up action-oriented programs to ensure that our City is livable for all.

I have also attached the cover note here to make it convenient for you to see  it.

Regards,

Mathew

CC To: Ms. Roopa,

Dear Roopa,

Kindly keep the prints of both the cover note and the Excel Sheets ready. Mr. Mukund would come there for signing the same. Please inform him as soon as they are ready.

I had a call from Times of India. They wanted to know details of our budget. I informed that this would be available at tomorrow's press meet. I hope Kathyayini has told you to go ahead with the press meet. I spoke to her this morning. I have sent the mail to Dr. Padmini.

Regards,

Mathew

Dear Mr Mathew Thomas

Again it is a very good effort, but i was wondering , if the letter is addressed to AdMINISTRATOR- should we mention on Seperate company for Water Supply-it does not come to his purview ,i feel we can restrict only to BBMP budget - what citizens want

Also there are opinions from local Bangaloreans - regarding migrant workers- that it is the duty of the employer to provide accomadation-since there is influx of outsiders of Bangalore- Bangalore should not be rehabilation for outsiders since locals are deprived from Water and civic services

Dear Mukund,

This was included in the budget we presented on Mar 17. I did also mention it on 3 Mar.

Under the new governance structure of BBMP all civic services agencies would come under a single central authority. So BWSSB in its present form may not exist, just as BDA would be disolved. Perhaps, BWSSB would continue only as an organization that sets up the infrastructure and the distribution and maintenance would be handed over the BBMP. Here, the politicos are trying to use this exercise to sell this [euphemistically termed, "Operation & Maintenance" (O & M)] to foreign companies, like Thames Water.

It is to forestall such moves that I have brought up this idea and I am sure that if & when, the Govt comes up with their proposal [and this would be very soon] citizens and press would already have a plan which they could use to defeat the evil intentions of the politicians.

This is not something impractical. It has been done in many other countries.

So, I request that let it remain in the budget.

Regards,

Mathew
