Didanyone try to access Vodafone LTE with this E5372T modem after unlocking, its not latching/registering to the LTE Network and only hooks to 3G. This is with my Vodafone Prepaid as well as contract sim which works on 4G Mode on my Xperia Z. So mostly likely Vodafone blocking out MBB devices here, irony is the ZTE MF 91 can access 4G on these Vodafone sims. Anyone tried Vodafone/Optus 4G Sims on E5372T , please report back.
Of course I tried using 4G/LTE Only and setting network to Auto. Only thing is the APN I had set to vfinternet.au instead of
live.vodafone.com. Will try out the steps again with both the Vodafone sims (prepaid and contract) and report back here.
I think the issue is that it can have 9 devices connected, but Telstra are only stating 5 because the performance would be crap if more than 5 devices put a real load on the device, both from load on the router chip and the actual performance of the connection to each device.
Can this modem provide internet to PC/Mac with usb cable only (not wifi). Trying to set this up for my mother who lives in an apartment and lots of other wifi network nearby. Also she does not need to worry about charging the unit if it is always USB connected.
I haven't tested whether it gives a USB connection by USB but will do over the next few days. I guess it will work, as it appears to be pretty much the same software as the older models in terms of the way it functions (eg e585-u82)
I haven't used one so can't comment other than to say it covers more LTE bands, so future proof and can run at higher speeds.
My MF91 has a larger battery however (2300mAh) and runs well beyond the specified 6 hours. Perhaps this modem does as well, I don't know. Perhaps it also uses less power so doesn't need the larger battery.
I'll keep using the ZTE until it either fails or I really need access to the new bands. At present I'm not even in a 4G area so it's academic.
This supports Cat 4 LTE upto 150 Mbps, but I guess that is with a single carrier at 20Mhz with no aggregation. How much more speeds do we need anyway ? This gives almost consistently more than 50 Mbps download and 25 Mbps upload all the time. Thats way too much speed to burn data in minutes :P
They come with a 1A USB charger, but I accidentally plugged mine into a 500mA charger. After 3-4 hours, it had barely charged. I guess feeding a 3560mAh battery with a 500mA charger will do that to you (nearly 8 hours to charge I guess).
Using a bigger capacity charger than specified will not result in a faster charge, the charge current is limited by the internal charger regulator. The only requirement for fast charge is to meet the minimum requirement, which is 1.5A as supplied.
Having recently moved out to Australia from the UK, I require a reasonably quick internet connection, and data allowance for job hunting and completing distance learning courses online, my previous 3G USB was just not up to it.
Since having this device I have found it is far quicker than the 3G USB stick and it has made my life a lot easier, but I've just found out today that it is locked to the Telstra network and costs $100 to unlock it!!! WTF!!! I've paid for the device and bought it from BigW, surely I have no further contract with Telstra??!
You've bought a locked, prepaid device. You can unlock it for about $11 if you read this entire thread. There is also a poster will do it for you as you've posted. This is completely normal for prepaid devices to be locked in Australia.. I guess we all just accept it.
I am a reasonably tech-savvy person, but I'm slightly confused by your earlier comment in the Thread (above). What drivers? Where do they need to be installed? Is there a reason this doesn't appear to be mentioned on the DC-Unlocker Tutorials? A lot of questions I know, just don't want to stuff anything up at the first hurdle.
After that fire up or easier 192.168.1.1 and you should be able to get the Modem webui. Also it works with USB as well. Disconnect from Wifi of the modem and connect the modem to your PC via USB, once the drivers install, you should be able to fire up the Web UI.
I just found out that like the E5776, the E5372T has a battery charging feature. I plugged in an OTG cable and the E5372 battery indicator changed to charging mode. I think it needs a specific otg cable (huawei Af10) to actually charge devices because my generic otg cable could not charge an iphone
I have successfully today got my E5272T unlocked via DC-unlocker and am now using a Bendigo Telco Sim (Optus 4G!). I'm currently measuring 7.81Mps but I am right on the 4G fringe in Gosford, Central Coast. I am pretty happy with that anyways, seeing I lack any other form of internet connection where I live.
4. Settings you need to change (if you use non-Telstra provider) are located in homepage > Settings > Profile Management. You will need to add a new profile and use the APN from your provider (see step 5)
6. Apply settings and you should be good to go. Play around with the other suggested settings on this forum if you can't get 4g (I dont and I am still playing around with settings.. 3g works fine though)
Good to know it worked great or you Jo, was a pleasure to help you with the unlock code. I also use it with Vodafone 4G here in Melbourne and get blistering speeds, well above 50 Mbps downloads and 30 Mbps uploads.
Yes we must use the APN
live.vodafone.com for Vodafone 4G to work on prepaid/postpay sims. vfinternet.au does not work as it is usually for Vodafone MWB, but now since they have 4G on postpay MWB, it might work. I will give it a go with the E5372 with my Vodafone Prepaid sim ($30 Prepaid Cap) and post back in sometime.
To those who wonder how to simply load these straight into your own Google Drive, click the little "Manilla folder" to the right of the file name and the star ("Move to") and set a folder in your own Google Drive .. no download to your machine required, and you can pick up the file whenever you need it.
One quick question, I haven't run DC Unlocker in a couple of years and my only Windows machine now runs Windows 8.1. Are there any issues with DC Unlocker and 8.1? I see everyone is talking about Windows 7 here.
I understand that Optus has deployed Band 40 here in Melbourne as well, at least in some CBD areas (which is mainly where I use it). Yes I know that Band 3 is available here as well and will work with this device, so it's fine for now, but I know that once Band 3 gets congested (which can already happen at peak times) having Band 40 would be great as there would be a lot less users on that.
But this is more in terms of having a future-proof device that works on all telcos in Australia, but unfortunately the technology isn't there yet. I can't blame Telstra for not putting Band 40 in their equipment!

it supports 5 LTE Bands(Cat4 LTE FDD 800/900/1800/2100/2600 making it quite a Global device for use in Europe and USA. Only the bad thing is it misses the important LTE 700Mhz band :(None of the US based operators cover any of the supported LTE bands of the MiFi. Only Bell and Rogers support band 7 in Canada. This device is nearly for the whole Asia Pacific, EMEA as well as parts of Caribbean and South American areas.
Please feel free to post for any concerns/questions.
Are you off work or why didn't you respond to my email within the "guaranteed less than 24 hours"? Do you still sell update codes? Then I want to purchase one.
The only thing I can find is that under: Settings>system>Device information>My number:unknown. This has nothing to do with sending txt's. On some operators your own number is displayed and on some not. Idk on what this depend.
Good to know that the firmware update do make signal better and swaying between 3G/4G lesser. I noticed the 2nd case while inside buildings. As of the modes, yes there is a 4G Only mode in the OEM Web UI. There is nothing it takes off from Telstra Web UI, so its quite safe and recommended for everyone to upgrade to the OEM Huawei Web UI /Dashboard and also it does not require any flash code.
