Three sings are essential for it: (1) your opt-in email list; (2)
access to an off-site smtp server/service (don't use anything
downloadable, you'll die configuring it); and (3) a Reputation Guard
that ensures that you don't get penalized if your email is CAN-SPAM
compliant. If you do not follow these principles, your domain and IP
will be quickly blacklisted by ISPs for spam, you may not even be
able
to send normal email, and your website will be shut down by SpamCop.
You don't want that! Also nice to have is (4) a tracker that tells
you
which emails were delivered, which failed, and the statistics on that
over any period. This makes you a pro. For these purposes I recommend
the industry standard, SMTP.com. It does not provide email lists
(building them is your own responsibility, the ones you buy are
ineffective). But once you have build such legitimate prospect lists,
they will affordably do everything else for you, and they will advise
and support you for free. They boast 99% deliverability, might be a
slight exaggeration, unless your list is perfect to begin with, but
they are the best at what they do. Anyway, check it, there's a clear
summary here: http://www.SMTP.com/dedicated
