INTERESTING COMMENT RECEIVED FROM ONE OF OUR QUIZ USER

Good day, Mohammad,

Thanks for your feedback.

To make matters a bit more fun and complicated you must consider a few things before this question can be answered.

One of the major changes from ISC2 in the latest CBK is the definition of a HOT site.   They define it as a facility that is LEASED or OWNED.  For the past 20 years, they would claim it was RENTED only.

ISC2 also came out with the notion of Internal Hot Site versus External Hot site.   Both of which can be OWNED or RENTED.

The statement from the Sybex book is interesting, it contradicts itself within the same sentence, where it says that it may or it may NOT be replicated.

I will revise the question to add a bit of clarity to this topic.   If you have full replication of the data it means the remote site would be dedicated to you and only to that specific purpose.  In such a case we would refer to it as a Redundant site, or a Dual Data Center, or an Alternate site that belongs to your company.  That would certainly NOT be true in the case of an Internal Hot Site where the equipment may be used for other purpose such as Development or Testing.    That would most likely not be true of an external hot site if it is rented.   If your alternate Hot Site is NOT rented than it should be called a Dual Datacenter or Redundant site.

I think the Sybex book is NOT in line with the ISC2 book on this topic.  Myself, whenever I am in doubt, I like to go with the ISC2 book, after all, they are the one managing the exam content and Sybex is not.

Best regards and have a great weekend

Clement

Hi Admin,

QuestionName: What is the MAIN concern when reviewing a reciprocal disaster recovery agreement between two companies?

Subject: CISSP (Latest CBK) Online Quiz Comment - Contradiction - which one is correct?

Comments: Domain 7: A facility that is leased or owned and is fully configured and ready to operate within a few hours. The only missing resources from a hot site are usually the data, which will be retrieved from a backup site, and the people who will be processing the data. --- the statement contradicts with Sybex Official Study Guide: Ref: Page 779 - Section: Hot Site - Para 2: The data on the primary site servers is periodically or continuously replicated to corresponding servers at the hot site, ensuring that the hot site has up-to-date data. Depending on the bandwidth available between the sites, hot site data may be replicated instantaneously.

Thanks.
