Good day Avinash,

FUD = Fear Uncertainty and Doubt

It seems this is the technique used by the link you provided.   Doing CAT testing to get ready for the CISSP at this moment would be simply stupid as it is NOT the current testing method and will not be for a while.    It is something coming out down the pipe.   If you read the article, you will see it was mentioned by one of the executive at  ISC2 who was presenting at one of their conferences.   Nothing formal has been announced yet.

Once it is OFFICIALLY released, not just some talk at some conference than we will get ready for them and offer them as well.

I am fully aware of those changes coming down the pipe.

We cannot create something that does not exist yet.    The next version of the CISSP is only being released in April of 2018.

At the moment ISC2 has not released any details.  They did not specify which type of CAT testing they are going to implement, there is more than one type out there.

I have done many CAT exams for different certifications over the past 36 years,   I can tell you that people who know the material very well will love them and find them easier than normal testing.   However, a cheater who does not want to put the proper time into their studies will find them more of a challenge.

For now, It is ALL speculation until ISC2 OFFICIALLY released the announcement with a lot more details.

Best regards my friend and thanks for your note

Clement

Good day Avinash,

You are correct my friend.    ISC2 just went ahead and decided all exams for the CISSP ENGLISH version will be CAT based.

I am completely taken by surprise by such a move.

I intend to try out the new exam at the end of December as well.   To me, there is no change in the content, the way you prepare, etc....  etc....  etc....

The biggest difference is you MUST answer the questions when it is presented,   you cannot skip and come back to it later because every subsequent question that follows is based on the previous one.   You get to see the question once and this is all.

The positive side is that CAT exams favor people who know the material and understand where and when it would be used.

I am wondering if this move is driven by financial means or true will to better evaluate one knowledge of the CBK??

Exams of 3 hours are cheaper to run and easier to administer.     CAT has been used successfully in other certifications for years.  However, those certifications did not have content as large and as wide as the 8 domains of the CISSP CBK.

I fail to see how you can ask someone 100 to 150 questions and determine without a doubt their proficiency of a topic as large as Information System Security.

Fact remains:   that will be the new exam format

Best regards

Clement

Hi Clement,

Ah I agree but the reason I sent you the mail was because we received an official mail from ISC2 that from December 18th the exam will be CAT. Some of us had booked for post Dec 18 hence the question. Are you sure this is not implemented because we have received mails for the same.

Thanks and Regards
