Hey guys, i have a simple yet confusing question to ask. Which type of firewall examines contents of a packet ?
Options 1) Static filtering 2) Application proxy 3) Circuit Proxy 4 ) Stateful inspection firewall .
#1 and 3 can be easily ruled out. There is some confusion between #2 and 4. As per Shon & Harris CISSP book, an application proxy examines packets all the way upto Application layer whereas as per ISC CISSP official guide , it is the stateful inspection firewall that does this. My personal knowledge also says it has to stateful inspection firewall.
Any comments ? suggestions ?
Thanks
