27 - I grab onto the blue Luma, and the game pulls back on the galaxy like I'm playing Mass Effect! This is really cool. I point my cursor at the only galaxy I canattempt, and its name is revealed: the Good Egg Galaxy. Looks likethere are three stars available here.
29 - Good Egg Galaxy - Dino Piranha. Is that the star name?
30 - Star Bits keep popping out distracting me from where I'm going. So many to grab!
32 - The game has some really neat effects and environment design that seem to defy gravity, really great mechanics.
33 - Each planet is a little puzzle that needs to be solved, it's reallykeeping me on my toes wondering what's next. Hey, there's Yoshi's egg!
34 - As I fly to the next planet, I land on a giant egg (not Yoshi's), andit begins to crack... my first boss planet! I bop the tail sticking outand a large piranha plant hatches and begins chasing me around. It'slike a Frankensteinish Petey Piranha.
35 - Very simple fight though, just spin against his tail a few times and he's done. And there's my second star.
51 - One more star to pick up inthis stage... or I could try out a new galaxy? Let's try something newnow that I have three stars. Oh, I've opened up a brand new dome.
53 - Or not, as I can't find anything new. I'm a bit confused. I head backinto the Terrace dome and fly to the Honeyhive Galaxy which requiresthree stars. Bee Mario takes Flight!
54 - A bee starts talking to me right away, nothing important to say though.
56 - Sweet, I unlock Mario's bee costume and begin zooming around. You can fly for a few seconds by holding A.
57 - Life as a bee is interesting, but perilous. I accidentally fly off aplanet, thinking I would rotate around under it like some of theothers. You also have to avoid water like the plague.
58 - Ifind the Queen Bee, she's gigantic and asks me to get some ticklishitems off her back. You can crawl around her fur, and finding thepieces are easy. This creates a launcher behind her.
60 - Toadis on this final planet, and he's found a star for me! Looks like allthese Toads were stranded here, and by rescuing them, they'll be in thehub world. Well, that's the end of the first hour Super Mario Galaxy!
The Toads of the Mushroom Kingdom gathered in the Castle Gardens outside Princess Peach's Castle to celebrate the centennial Star Festival. This year, the comet released a variety of shooting stars, in the form of Star Bits, that landed on the ground below. During the festival, the Toads enjoyed collecting these Star Bits that had fallen from the sky. Some of these shooting stars even combined to form a powerful Grand Star, which was brought to Peach's Castle by the Toads. Princess Peach even stumbled upon a special star creature named Luma.
Grand Finale Galaxy, not to be confused by Grandmaster Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy 2, is the final galaxy of Super Mario Galaxy. It can be unlocked by finishing the game with 120 Stars with Mario and Luigi. Grand Finale Galaxy is a purple coin mission that is fairly simple. By beating the mission, you are rewarded with the 121st star and a picture for the Wii Message Board depending on who you beat it with.
Oh man, I LOVE Galaxy music, and this mix does it justice. The sweeping orchestral parts combined with the backing chippy sounds, like the Good Egg Galaxy part at 2:18, make for a really epic listening experience. The flute playing is on point as well, especially at the star festival interlude at 2:44. Once Gusty Garden hits, the starting part with chiptunes flawlessly transitions into another beautiful orchestral part, sounding like that's the way the song was originally written. This track takes a few already amazing source tunes and builds upon them perfectly.
Mario is invited to the centennial Star festival at Peach's Castle, when Bowser attacks the place, and.. kidnaps the princess! But there's more than that, luckily. Mario finds himself on another planet, and meets Rosalina and the Lumas. He is told that the Comet Observatory has lost power, and he needs to regain stars to do so.
This glutton not only consumes both Star Bits and coins (which is odd given he's a semi-star himself), but he also morphs into a galaxy when doing so. Yeah, the level of weirdness is certainly sky-high with this one, even for the standards of a Mario title...
I got 120 stars with mario within the week of release, got the first star with Luigi, and then put it down to be played though at a later date and haven't touched it since.
I'll be hooking up my wii again soon as i've just picked up Pikmin today, and so i'll think i'll play through Galaxy again. I adore some of those levels.
