Center of reference image

Can we assume that the geometric center of the reference image will always be the center of the logo?

Yea, as long as your consistent it shouldn't really matter though.   Even if you chose to use the upper left corner or something then each point would vote for the upper left corner and the points with high votes would indicate where the top left corner of the logo was.
