Version 8.27 of SteelVis, the NIST CIS/2 to VRML and IFC Translator, is now available.
More cross section dimensions have been added to the lookup table in SteelVis.
If a CIS/2 file does *not* include explicit cross section dimensions, there is improved feedback about which cross section dimensions were found in the SteelVis lookup table and which dimensions were parsed from the section designator.
Improvements have also been made for generating X3DOM files. X3DOM
files can be displayed in a web browser *without* any VRML or X3D plugin. X3DOM files can only be displayed in a web browser that supports WebGL such as Google Chrome and Firefox 4. You can test your web browser at
http://get.webgl.org/ or try the following X3DOM example generated directly from SteelVis
http://cic.nist.gov/vrml/cis/ramcis2_x3dom.html
SteelVis now includes a utility that reads a CIS/2 file and
generates an Excel spreadsheet. This is useful for debugging CIS/2
files.
To upgrade, if you're a current user, in SteelVis go to Help > Check
for Update. If not, go to
http://cic.nist.gov/vrml/cis2.html and
follow the links to download SteelVis.
