What You Need
Before you start, make sure you have the following:
A PC with at least 4 GB of RAM and 20 GB of free disk space.
VMware Workstation 15 or later. You can download a free trial from here.
An Android-x86 9.0 R2 ISO image. You can download it from here.
How to Install Android 9 Pie on PC with VMware Workstation
Follow these steps to install Android 9 Pie on PC with VMware Workstation:
Launch VMware Workstation and click on Create a New Virtual Machine.
Select Typical (recommended) and click Next.
Select I will install the operating system later and click Next.
Select Linux as the guest operating system and Other Linux 4.x or later kernel 64-bit as the version. Click Next.
Name your virtual machine and choose a location for it. Click Next.
Specify the disk size for your virtual machine. We recommend at least 16 GB. Select Store virtual disk as a single file and click Next.
Click Customize Hardware. Adjust the memory size to at least 2 GB. Under New CD/DVD (SATA), select Use ISO image file and browse to the Android-x86 9.0 R2 ISO image you downloaded earlier. Click Close.
Click Finish. Your virtual machine is ready.
Select your virtual machine and click Power on this virtual machine. You will see the Android-x86 boot menu.
Select Installation - Install Android-x86 to harddisk. Press Enter.
Select Create/Modify partitions. Press Enter.
Select No when asked if you want to use GPT. Press Enter.
Select New. Press Enter.
Select Primary. Press Enter.
Select the default size for the partition. Press Enter.
Select Bootable. Press Enter.
Select Write. Press Enter.
