Darood Sharif is a way of expressing love, respect, and gratitude to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who is the best of creation and the leader of all the prophets. By sending Darood Sharif to him, we acknowledge his status, his rights, and his favors upon us. We also ask Allah to exalt his mention, to increase his rank, and to shower him with mercy and grace.
Darood Sharif is also a way of connecting with Allah, the Most High, who has commanded us to send blessings upon his beloved messenger. Allah says in the Quran: "Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. Benefits of Darood Sharif
There are many benefits and virtues of reciting Darood Sharif regularly and abundantly. Some of them are:
- It is a means of attaining Allah's pleasure, as He loves those who send blessings upon His messenger.
- It is a means of attaining the prophet's intercession on the Day of Judgment, as he said: "The closest of people to me on the Day of Resurrection will be those who send the most blessings upon me." (Tirmidhi)
- It is a means of erasing sins and increasing good deeds, as the prophet said: "Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will erase ten sins from him and raise him ten degrees in status." (Muslim)
