💥 Summer 2024 is on fire! Today we launch registrations for SPARK! Organizing for Revolution: Summer School at The People's Forum, a six-week hybrid course for organizers, visionaries, and all who are committed to struggle to build a new world, which will take place from July 9 to August 15.

🇵🇸 An unprecedented mass movement for Palestine has taken the world by storm, igniting a profound shift in the consciousness of millions, while the U.S. ruling class, desperate to maintain its hegemony, is struggling to fulfill its imperialist agenda as it enters a controversial election cycle in the midst of a serious political crisis. The future, uncertain and volatile, holds many dangers but also many opportunities for the working and oppressed class.

One thing is certain – the people of the world demand change. But how does historical and societal change actually occur? What does it mean to be a revolutionary in times of intense political crisis? How do we organize for revolution?

REGISTER TODAY!

Israel provokes regional conflict

This week, Israeli forces approved plans for a military offensive targeting Hezbollah in preparation for an “all-out war” in Lebanon. This escalation reveals that both Israel and the U.S. have failed to secure their position in the region, and Benjamin Netanyahu’s only path to maintaining power is through permanent war in the region. On Wednesday, June 19, Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah announced that the resistance group would be ready for war if Israel were to attack Lebanon. Over the past months, Hezbollah has worn down Israeli air defense systems, enabling them to send a drone across the border and capture images of classified sites and ports in Israel. The Iranian mission to the UN remarked in a statement that any further escalation by Israel would come with heavy consequences.

Global heat wave reaches new levels, as climate crisis worsens

This summer, a global heat wave has seen temperatures reach unprecedented levels. In May, India experienced the longest heat wave in its history, and all over Asia, Europe, the United States—where over 65 million people are under heat alerts—and across the world, temperatures are at record highs. In Gaza, the UN has warned that the scorching heat could exacerbate the health conditions of Palestinians who have been displaced due to bombardment, and are experiencing extreme levels of hunger and thirst. Air pollution, intensified by industrial manufacturing, is the second leading cause of death around the world, and it mostly affects people in the Global South who bear the brunt of the escalating climate crisis.

Venezuela braces itself against foreign intervention as elections draw near

Venezuelans are preparing for the July 28 presidential elections with the expectation that the United States will attempt to interfere in their democratic process. This election will mark more than 30 elections in the last 25 years in Venezuela, and 10 years since the United States first imposed unilateral coercive measures, or so-called “sanctions,” on Venezuela which have greatly affected the economy. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto says that they expect the United States to collude with opposition forces and violent right-wing terrorists in the country to undermine the democratic election, but that they predict that current president Nicolas Maduro will be reelected. In Venezuela, Maduro has seen rallies in support of his presidency and reelection across the country, from Zulia to Miranda.
