Dear Circular Economy Working Group DMV,

We invite you to join us this Wednesday, March 24th, at 6 pm, for our Circular Economy Working Group (CEWG) to discuss two start-ups that are focused on circularity and the local/regional economy.

Lara Ilao, the CEWG Chair knows both of these speakers from the Bethesda Innovation Green Lab where they are all in the same incubator group!  (I am giving Lara a helping hand in getting out this message!)

--Jess Owens is the Founder and CEO of Greenlist. Greenlist is a technology that enables peer-to-peer returns. Their returns SKIP the trip back to the store, warehouse, or landfill and go directly to a waiting consumer. Prior to founding Greenlist, Jess was the Director of Marketing at Arlington Strategy. Jess lives in Falls Church City with her husband, two daughters, and dog Bluebell.

-- Shawn Hutchinson is the CEO and founder of Universal Schedule, a distributed ledger company.   His company is working on sustainability issues on the local level and has some core technology in the works to help put the competitive advantage back in the hands of communities and small businesses via Local Cart.  LocalCart is a convenient way to buy local through a platform that supports local businesses. The idea started with lots of conversations with businesses and people, actually in the "tourism" and regional travel industry. This spring the team will release an app called GetawayLocal that people like because it's fun and easy for finding activities and things to do. His background is in computer science, technology, and ministry.

You can RSVP here for the meeting to receive the Zoom link.

Best,
Janine

Good Afternoon All,

I hope you can join us for this evening's Circular Economy Working Group meeting 6-8PM. We will have two local-preneurs who are promoting both a circular economy as well as a regional economy, respectively.
