Dear Circular Economy Group,

I have felt for a long time that the US needed to move to an Extended Producer Responsibility model.  Maine has now become the first state in the US to require companies that create consumer packaging to pay for the costs of recycling.  See more in the Washington Post article on this.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/maine-becomes-first-state-to-shift-costs-of-recycling-from-taxpayers-to-companies/2021/07/13/aa6fbe44-e416-11eb-8aa5-5662858b696e_story.html  Unfortunately, you need a digital subscription to the Post to read this article but maybe you can find it in other related articles.

By the way, we will be conducting our 8th Annual Green Jobs Forum & Career Fair on August 26, 2021 as part of the Climate Resilient 3-day conference being held by Resilient Virginia (August 25-27).   If you are currently working at or know of companies that are hiring in the green space and promoting circularity, they may wish to consider exhibiting as a way to reach out to jobseekers who will be attending the conference  Also if you know of universities, community colleges, etc. who are offering green credentials or related training, they may be interested in attracting candidates for their programs via this event.   See more details at the Resilient Virginia website.

Cheers,
Janine
